. Always act with reverence and caution. If someone was previously negligent, but later becomes cautious, like the moon freed from clouds, beautifully adorned like a lotus, like Delightful Garland, Seeing Existence, and Blissful Conduct. Caution is the nectar or the place of immortality. By diligently practicing caution as the essence of Dharma, the mind is liberated from afflictions, attaining the state of liberation and immortality. Since the state of immortality arises from caution, caution is called the place of immortality. As long as there is negligence, one will not attain the state of liberation and immortality. Negligence gives rise to afflictions, and afflictions give rise to the cycle of birth and death. Therefore, negligence is the place of death, as declared by the Bhagavan, the King of Sages. The Sutra says: Caution is the place of immortality, negligence is the place of death. The cautious do not go to death, the negligent always die. The difference between them is understood through reason. The wise always act with caution, greatly rejoicing in caution, the realm of the noble ones is joy. As stated in the scriptures, knowing what to accept and reject, practicing caution will greatly increase all virtuous Dharmas. Therefore, O King, for the sake of increasing your own virtuous Dharma, do not despise or abandon the Buddhas and noble ones, but regard them as supreme and foremost in greatness, as exemplified in the teachings. With the sacred Dharma and reverence, always be cautious in the Dharma, that is, act with caution. If one has already committed the fault of acting negligently in the past, is it useless to abide in caution now? If one abides in complete caution from the very beginning, it is most wonderful. However, if someone has previously acted negligently, but later becomes cautious, then from the time of caution, benefit and happiness will arise for oneself, and one's conduct will not be envied by others, but will be praised for its beauty. Just as the moon is initially obscured by clouds, but when the clouds disperse, it shines brightly without diminishing, radiating light and being extremely beautiful. For example, previously acting negligently
