Neither of the two. Self and world are permanent, and both permanent and impermanent are neither. After the Tathagata passes away, both arising and not arising are neither. Self and life are one and different, these are the fourteen unanswerable views. Among them, the self and the world have boundaries, etc., clinging to the self and the aggregates as the same or different, clinging to the boundaries of size, and the boundaries of past and future times, having and not having, both being, and neither being. Clinging to the boundaries of the world's realm, the amount of upper and lower directions of the place, having boundaries and not having boundaries, and the boundaries of time such as the formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness of kalpas, having and not having, both being and not being. Self and world are permanent and impermanent, these two are both being and not being. After the Tathagata passes away in the realm of nirvana without remainder, whether or not he returns to samsara from liberation, arising and not arising, and both being and not being. Clinging to self and life as one and not one, these fourteen views, many non-Buddhist wanderers, with these views, asked the Tathagata, and in response to the need, did not answer for a time, therefore, these evil views are called unanswerable views. In the teaching of practicing the twelve links of dependent origination, the order of dependent origination is: ignorance gives rise to action, from that arises consciousness, from that arises name and form, from that arises the six sense bases, from that arises contact, thus the Able One declared. Contact gives rise to all feelings, the basis of feeling gives rise to craving. Craving gives rise to grasping, from that arises existence, existence gives rise to birth. If there is birth, then there is sorrow, grief, old age, and lack of desire and fear of death, etc., a great mass of suffering arises. The condition of ignorance gives rise to action, the dependent origination of action arises. From that, the dependent origination of name and form greatly arises. From that, the dependent origination of the six sense bases arises, from those arises the dependent origination of contact, thus the Able One declared. From that contact, the dependent origination of feeling greatly arises, the basis of feeling, which is feeling, is also the basis from which craving and so on arise, therefore it is a common basis.

It is indicated by the word "collection". From that, the dependent arising of existence arises. From that existence, the dependent arising of grasping arises. From that, the dependent arising of existence arises. From that existence, the dependent arising of birth arises. From that, the dependent arising of aging and death arises, that is, wherever there is birth, there is sorrow, sickness, old age, poverty of desires, and death, etc., all kinds of destruction, a very large and unbearable mass of suffering will arise. The way to show the forward and reverse order of dependent arising is: When birth ceases, all this ceases. That is, when birth ceases, aging and death cease, and similarly, when existence ceases, birth ceases, and so on, until when ignorance ceases, action ceases, the forward and reverse order should be applied. Showing the greatness of dependent arising is: This dependent arising is the Victorious One's, The treasure of speech, a profound jewel. Whoever sees this correctly, By wisdom, sees that Buddha. This talk of dependent arising is the speech of the Victorious One, the perfectly complete Buddha, the precious essence of the great treasure of the sacred Dharma, and it is profound because it is difficult to understand, and if understood, it will become a great meaning. Whoever sees the meaning of dependent arising correctly and without distortion, that is, knowing the suchness of the four truths, and the supreme aspect, that is, directly seeing the sixteen aspects without error, etc., that is, if one possesses a vast collection of merits, one will become a Buddha, a medium accumulation will become a Pratyekabuddha, and a small accumulation will become a Shravaka Arhat. Here, briefly speaking of the general meaning: Ignorance, action, consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, aging and death are the twelve links. Here, the nature of dependent arising, the division of the twelve links, the identification, and how they revolve in the three existences, etc., the first is the nature of arising from conditions, which is the meaning of various favorable causes and conditions producing results. Secondly, in terms of the division of nature, there are two types of dependent arising: defiled dependent arising and purified dependent arising. The first is: action due to the condition of ignorance.
