When the Chakpa and Tibetans, with their meager resources, requested a method for quickly accumulating wealth and possessing great power, the protector recounted the previous history of this protector: He is also known as the Great Compassionate Black Protector, also known as the Swift-Acting Wisdom Protector, and also known as the Woodpile Protector. This protector, from the very beginning, merely by relying on him, fulfills all needs and desires, merely by thinking of him, eliminates all obstacles, turns all enemies to dust, shows his face even without being propitiated after being prayed to, cannot be turned back or harmed by inner curses, and through common practice, supreme accomplishments arise as a side effect. He bestows this Dharma protector, who is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. He opened the door to the profound Samadhi empowerment and completely bestowed the instructions of this Dharma protector, finally saying this: In general, do not break your vows, be sure to prepare raw black barley flour torma and unique incense blends, etc., as vow substances, and do not interrupt them. Do not throw stones at crows and black dogs, and have faith, etc., and abide by the vows required by the protector. If you do so, you will not need to strive for a livelihood in all circumstances, even when living in the mountains. The protector himself will provide what you need. If you practice for thirteen days, the protector will appear in person to you and all your retinue. Thus he prophesied. After that, although he went to Tibet, he later went to India to offer a feast gathering to repay the kindness of the lamas and pleased them with excellent golden mandalas. At that time, the lord Maitripa was not present. By offering a golden mandala to the female yogini Ganga Dhari, he also obtained the great seal and special signs of accomplishing siddhis from the protector. After that, he returned to Tibet and did much to benefit beings. In between, he also showed many ways of meditating. Convinced that he was a bodhisattva on the ground, he also listened to the Dharma from Geshe Potowa and Langri Tangpa. He did a solitary retreat at Jog Monastery in Phan Yul. At first, when the lama Maitripa said that there was no need to strive for a livelihood and that the protector would provide, he thought that the protector would send it. Therefore, he stopped striving for a livelihood, and as a result, his livelihood was cut off. One night, even the regular torma for the protector was not available, so he came out of the cave,

Then he called out the names of the workers of the Protector (Tibetan: ོགས་མགོན་པོ།). First, Lama Maitripa said: "Now I have no livelihood here. Even the regular torma (Tibetan: རྒྱུན་གཏོར།) offerings to the Protector have ceased." He said this loudly, so offerings were sent in great quantities from the market in the Rangdra (Tibetan: རང་འབྲས།) area. Butter, barley, tea, food, clothes, and so on came in great quantities. Relying on these, he gathered many students and taught the Dharma. After about a month, the sangha became very large, and Jogpo (Tibetan: ཇོག་པོ།) could not accommodate them, so he built a monastery at a place called Chadka (Tibetan: ཆད་ཀ།) at the end of the valley. Gradually, about a thousand sangha members gathered. Then, one time, he was staying in a small hut inside the monastery. He taught the Dharma during the first half of the month when he was out of retreat, and he was in retreat during the second half of the month. During one of his retreats, just as dawn was breaking, someone knocked on the door of his room. The attendant looked and saw that an acharya had come and asked to see the lama. Then, the attendant tried to dissuade him, saying that the lama was in retreat and could not be seen. The acharya said, "I am a patient who has come from a long distance, so I must see him." Then, the attendant invited him in and called a doctor to examine him. The doctor said, "This is a blood disease and needs to be bled." The yogi said, "Bleeding will not work." Then he did a practice of regulating the breath. About an elbow's length in the sky, there was a "uru uru" sound, and diseased blood flowed out of all the pores of his body. He said, "There is a breeze there." Then he began to offer butter for smearing. The yogi said, "Massage will not work." He did another practice of regulating the breath. Like before, he was in the sky making "uru uru" sounds, and oil mixed with saffron flowed out of the pores of his body. He did another practice of regulating the breath, and it slowly seeped into the pores, and his body became radiant and lustrous. He thought it was very wonderful and asked, "Where did you come from this morning?" The acharya said, "I came from Bodh Gaya, India, just as the sun was rising this morning. Because the Potala valley is narrow, the sun had not yet risen when I arrived here." When asked his name, he said, "I am Rahula Gupta Vajra (Tibetan: ར་ཧུ་ལ་གུཔྟ་བཛྲ།)." Guna Pakara (Tibetan: གུ་ན་པཱ་ཀ་ར།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुणपाकर, Sanskrit Romanization: guṇapākara, literal meaning: maker of merit), Ratna Akara (Tibetan: རཏྣ་ཨ་ཀཱ་ར།, Sanskrit Devanagari: रत्नाकर, Sanskrit Romanization: ratnākara, literal meaning: treasure of jewels), and also Abhijuta Kana (Tibetan: ཨ་བྷི་ཛུ་ཏ་ཀ་ན།). He said, "Go to Tibet, it will be helpful to a yogi." He came saying this, so that is why I met you. And so on.
