What is the work of the three realms? It accomplishes everything that can be done. At this time of the ritual for gathering mantras, it should be offered. This is the third chapter, the section on gathering mantras, from the great Vajrabhairava Tantra of Supreme Pal Manjushri. Then, the practice of Vajrabhairava, with the preceding understanding that all dharmas are without self, the deity's visualization should be accurately explained. First, the mantra of intrinsic purity should be recited. Having made all dharmas into the nature of selflessness, one should contemplate in the center of the sky a wind mandala formed from the aspect of yaṃ (यं, yaṃ, the seed syllable of wind), its color being smoky. Above that, one should visualize a moon mandala transformed from the first vowel letter. Above that, one should transform into the form of Manjushri the Youthful from the aspect of dhīḥ (धीः, dhīḥ, the seed syllable of wisdom). In its heart, one should meditate on a sun mandala formed from the aspect of a (अ, a, the seed syllable of body). From that sun mandala, rays of light emanate, intensely urging all the Tathagatas, Bodhisattvas, Vidyādharīs, and Wrathful Ones, etc., who reside in the ten directions, boundless and limitless, and again they come and enter into the sun mandala. Thus, Manjushri and the Tathagatas, etc., become one and should be contemplated in the sun mandala. One should contemplate that it pervades a thousand million leagues with the aspect of blazing light. Above that, one should contemplate hūṃ (हुं, hūṃ, the seed syllable of mind) of black color, perfectly endowed with five lights. From that hūṃ (हुं, hūṃ, the seed syllable of mind), the aspect of light rays emanates and enters again as previously stated. One should distinctly visualize a great vajra, fully extended, black in color, endowed with five lights, from that letter. From that vajra, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Wrathful Ones, and Vidyādharīs in subtle form, filling the center of the sky like a sesame pod, abiding on the sun, should be contemplated. Then, the Buddhas, etc., having subdued sentient beings to ripen them and established them on the path to enlightenment, again gather them together with it and contemplate them entering into the image of the vajra. That very image of the vajra, with nine faces and the form of a buffalo, blazing like the fire of the end of time, the great Vajrabhairava capable of consuming the three realms, with a fierce countenance.
