TNT21 0009.Explanation of the Generation Stage of Hevajra.g2.0f

Although it can be like what is said in the sutras and major and minor commentaries, since the views from what Sambhuta said and what is said in the root commentary of the Madhyāntavibhāga are consistent, it is adopted. Sixteen are inner emptiness, outer emptiness, inner and outer, great, emptiness, ultimate reality, conditioned, unconditioned, beyond extremes, without beginning or end, non-abandonment, self-nature, the characteristic of self's non-emptiness, all dharmas, non-entity, the nature of non-entity emptiness. Among these, the first six are established from the perspective of what is seen and how it is seen, and the latter two emptinesses are established from the perspective of whether self-nature is empty or not. These eight are the eight right hands. The eight intermediate emptinesses are the eight left hands. The sixteen skull cups are the sixteen hands and the sixteen great bliss of union, which are in the form of sixteen joys. The eight creatures held in the right hand are, as stated in the Vajra Tent: Lungs and tumors, and likewise madness, dry belly leprosy and Śrījikā, liver and spleen diseases, know that the order is like elephants. As it is said, it symbolizes the eight diseases of sentient beings, and those mouths facing inward symbolize the elimination of those diseases by incorporating them into the body. The eight deities in the left skull cup symbolize the eight powers, and those bestowed upon sentient beings are represented by the faces turned outward. Regarding this, some documents of previous lamas only wrote: The power of body and the power of speech, likewise the power of mind, the power of miraculous powers that pervade everywhere, the eight qualities of fulfilling wishes. In all the later Sakya explanations, the pure union of hand symbols is identified as the eight qualities. The purity of the left and right seems to be equal in size, and some say: Able to be finer than the finest, able to act and great self-nature, making joy satisfied, all自在, doing as one wishes and the eight powers. Like this, combining the common eight accomplishments such as fineness is not a proper way of combining. Therefore, most of the previous lamas thought so.
