As it is said: When the vajra sun sets, one should diligently practice all endeavors. When the dawn's light appears, supreme meditation is accomplished. As it is said. That is, when the night is accompanied by moonlight, the first moment of joy arises; when the day is accompanied by sunlight, the second moment of supreme joy arises; when the sun sets, enveloped by the darkness of twilight, the third moment of special joy arises; when the dawn's light appears, the fourth moment of coemergent joy arises. Having thus realized these, one attains perfect enlightenment in the fifth moment. Such external realization is common with what is taught in the Father Tantras. The inner realization, in relation to the path of bodhicitta, is as follows: When the Sanggyé Khama bodhisattvas are given empowerment by the complete enjoyment body mandala and retinue, prior to the exhaustion of continuity, the vase empowerment and secret empowerment precede. The wisdom empowerment is such that the white element of skillful means, the bodhicitta, which is the essence of self-appearing wisdom, descends from the crown of the head to the secret place and is shown, giving rise to the wisdom possessing the nature of the four joys of ascending stability, which is the first realization. Together with such a white element, the red element of the wisdom of the self-appearing consort, which is the essence of wisdom, is stabilized from the secret place to the crown of the head, giving rise to the wisdom possessing the nature of the four joys of descending stability, which is the second realization. Thereafter, in the appearance of the disciple's wisdom, the subtle aggregates accompanied by wind dissolve into the heart, and due to that cause, the aggregates of white and red bindus descend, which is the third realization. In the second moment of that cause, the wisdom of the exhaustion of continuity, which has transformed into the four joys, actually arises. That wisdom is the subtle obscuration of great bliss or the obscuration of knowledge, and the actual antidote that eliminates the alaya, which is the fourth realization. Secondly, the first and second realizations are of the nature of the four joys, encompassed by ascending and descending stability. The third realization is the inseparability of bliss, the coemergent, unsurpassed. The fourth realization is the path that has become the coemergent nature.

Because it is ultimate wisdom, it is contained solely by co-emergent joy. Furthermore, the four Abhisamayas are related to the four joys in sequence, because they are the bliss of body, speech, mind, and wisdom, so it is in terms of similarity. In the second moment of the fourth Abhisamaya, the wisdom of the Buddha arises, and the path of non-learning liberation is the nature of the fifth Abhisamaya. From the second moment onwards, it abides in the nature of all five Abhisamayas. Thus the Lamas have said. Therefore, the first four Abhisamayas abide in the aspect of being similar to the five wisdoms, while the fifth Abhisamaya actually abides in the nature of the five wisdoms. That is to say, knowing the suchness and the extent of all dharmas, and realizing the equality of all dharmas and the great compassion without object is entering, and knowing the individual and general characteristics of all dharmas without confusion, and abiding in the nature of the power of the cause that ripens and liberates the different realms of sentient beings is the wisdom of great compassion, and the wisdom that purifies the adventitious defilements from the dharmadhatu abiding in a state of extreme purity, are, in order, the nature of mirror-like wisdom, and the wisdom of equality, and the wisdom of discernment, and the wisdom of accomplishing activities, and the wisdom of the dharmadhatu. Furthermore, in the case of other methods of combination, from the time of obtaining mirror-like wisdom at the time of the first Abhisamaya, until the time of obtaining the dharmadhatu wisdom at the time of the fifth Abhisamaya, it is said that the first four are similar, and the fifth is actual. Thus, the first four Abhisamayas are such that the wisdom of each preceding one increases more and more, and each succeeding one has the quality of increasing virtues, and if it is in terms of the similarity of wisdom, then at the time of the first Abhisamaya, mirror-like wisdom becomes the main one, and at the time of the second, the wisdom of equality becomes the main one, and at the time of the third, the wisdom of discernment becomes the main one, and at the time of the fourth, the wisdom of accomplishing activities becomes the main one. Because the ultimate purity of the dharmadhatu, which is twofold, is not obtained in those, the dharmadhatu wisdom is not considered the main one.
