What are the limits of that? The most important of those is the clear light of the nature of mind. What is that? It has characteristics that correspond to the Dharma of the fruition, such as fields, bodies, and wisdom. Its nature is great bliss without interruption, obtained by the nature of Dharma, and it has four characteristics. The continuum of cause, the object to be purified, the ālaya, and the primordial Buddha are names. What is the cause? What is the basis? What is the ālaya? What is the primordial Buddha? The cause is fourteen types: the cause of affliction, the cause of karma, the cause of suffering, the cause of complete contamination, the vessel, the essence, the cause of the path, emptiness, the cause of union with bliss, gross, subtle, extremely subtle causes, the two form bodies, and the cause of the Dharma body. The basis is fifteen types: the basis of pure vessel, the basis of pure essence, the basis of pure enjoyment, the basis of pure transformation, the basis of pure nature, the basis of samsara, the basis of nirvana, the basis of nature, the basis of name, the basis of ultimate, the basis of conventional, the basis of ultimate meaning, the basis of gross, the basis of subtle, the basis of extremely subtle. The first five are from the perspective of action and activity, and are a thorough distinction of those to be subdued. Then the three are thoroughly distinguished by bondage and liberation. Then two and two are thoroughly distinguished by real and imputed, and by substance and imputed. The last three are thoroughly distinguished by the way of realization. So what is the gross basis? These nine are: describing things that exist by imputation to a person, such as sandalwood, utpala (Sanskrit: উৎপল, Chinese: blue lotus), lotus, red lotus, jewels, etc., distinguished by affliction, distinguished by karma, distinguished by body, distinguished by lineage. The first five are thoroughly distinguished by characteristics. The latter four are thoroughly distinguished by name. What is called ālaya here is just like what appears from the rules of the scriptures. There are two kinds of primordial Buddhas: the primordial of nature and the suddenly arising primordial Buddha. What faults and what

If it is said to be related to self-nature and causes and results, then there exist the obscurations of the waking state, the dreaming state, the deep sleep state, and the fourth state, which exist simultaneously with the four joys or four appearances. From the four winds, four bindus, and four chakras, arise the defiled, slightly undefiled, extremely undefiled, or the leaky empowerment, the non-leaky empowerment, and the completely leak-free empowerment. From these, the four castes, four tantras, four conducts, four qualities, four time periods, and four habitual tendencies produce four kinds of conceptualizations: the belief that everything exists, the belief that atoms exist, the belief that it is only mind, and the belief that even that is unobtainable. These are the four tenets, four divisions, four instants, four joys, and either superimposing on the four truths or realizing them as they are. Similarly, one should know how the differences in purifying defilements through Evam-māyā (ཨེ་ཝཾ་མ་ཡ་,梵文:evaṃ-māyā,梵文罗马转写:evam-māyā,Thus Illusion) and the four places, the mudras of the four castes, and the four bodies, four vajras, etc., are explained extensively in the tantras. Here, what are the states? In the unproduced concordant with liberation, the produced concordant with liberation, the path of ordinary beings, the path of learners, and the path of non-learners, they are named the first Buddha, the continuum of cause, the one who has entered the path, the noble one, and the vajra holder of the result. Then, among these, what is unchanging? That is, the latter does not change into the nature of the former in time. Birth, old age, sickness, death, and all actions, all dependent arisings, awareness, seeing the truth, entering into non-conceptualization, and even the vajra-like samadhi cannot destroy or change it. Second, what is the cause of means? In summary: Empowerment, vows, and precepts, The union of tantra and meditation. These five are the continuum of means, namely, the union of empowerment, all vows, precepts, meditation, actions, and accomplishments. What is empowerment? Vase empowerment, secret empowerment, wisdom-awareness empowerment, fourth empowerment, and mundane empowerment, supramundane empowerment, disciple empowerment, and non-
