It possesses the proximate cause of not being weary of constant meditation, while the proximate cause of being at home is to cause distraction, so it is said that there is no limit, etc. The unconcerned forest does not concern itself with the actions of enemies and friends, therefore there is no cause for distraction; the wide valley has no people who are harmful and attached to oneself, and it is not occupied by others, so it is a practice to be abandoned. Therefore, it is said the edge of the forest. A loose person is one who does not restrain the actions of afflictions and acts loosely, therefore it is said: A frivolous person will never go to a place. Like this, if one does not restrain and live together with householders, etc., one will also act without restraining afflictions, and the appearance of extremely afflicted actions is that, One will also become the power of afflictions. Because there are none of those, it is easy to generate samadhi, so it is extremely happy. Therefore, it is the meaning of being as pleasant as a drum, etc. Solitary places such as forests should be said: We are afflicted, etc. Do not offer, that is, go there and abide in the body uprightly. It means that in that solitary place, one should possess the seven-fold body key of the venerable Vairochana Buddha. It means that this above is the preliminary of the order of entering yoga. That reason is also as the ritual of Maha Acharya Padmasambhava says: Like this, abide in the gatherings of discipline and so on, which are the abidings of peace, in a pleasant place, prostrate to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, etc., confess sins, rejoice in merits, and only take great compassion as the first, so that the thought of saving all sentient beings becomes firm, straighten the body, sit on a comfortable cushion in the lotus position, and manifest samadhi. One should act like this, like this, abide in the gatherings of discipline and so on, which are the abidings of peace, it means that the cause of peace is discipline first, just like this, home, etc. is said. The pleasant place is, the edge of the forest, etc. is said, Buddha, etc. is said, in that solitary place, as said before, the seven-branch offering should be performed, only great compassion

Then, what comes first is meditation, and the thought of liberating all beings is generating the mind of enlightenment (Bodhicitta). Then, by straightening the body and so on, the key points of the body are shown. Therefore, it is said, 'The straight body' and so on. Now, what is to be discussed here is how to manifestly attain Samadhi. The so-called 'mind of the mind is what is to be grasped' means that the yogi abides in the place of the nature of the inner mind, focusing only on the mind, abiding without conceptualization, and continuously maintaining this state, which is abiding and continuously abiding. Here, the withdrawal of the senses means that from the beginning, agitation and dullness are abandoned, the cause of conceptual thoughts is cut off, and then the senses are withdrawn inward, and one abides equally, which is close abiding. When many conceptual thoughts arise and disturb, pacify them like ocean waves, which is abiding again and again. When many conceptual thoughts arise, know this, and then abide equally again. The so-called 'If the mind becomes distracted, then it should be tamed with mindfulness' means to be tranquil and extremely tranquil. Even if conceptual thoughts arise, do not accept them. If you forget and become distracted, then seize it with mindfulness, and then see its faults, abandon the displeasure of abiding equally and abide. As Kamalashila said in the Stages of Meditation: 'When one sees displeasure in it, one should look at the qualities of Samadhi and be pleased with it, and seeing the faults of distraction, one should be extremely tranquil.' It also says: 'Enjoying sensual pleasures, remembering, etc., at that time wealth and bodily desires, conditioned moments are like dancers, like clouds and lightning in time. Rebirth is holding the corpse of a snake, alas, I am a place of distraction.' Therefore, remembering the faults of desire, and after abandoning it, the benefits of solitude and meditation, this is taming. As it says in the same text: 'If at any time one remembers previous agitation and playfulness, etc., and occasionally sees the mind agitated, one should remember impermanence and other things that cause aversion, and thereby pacify agitation.' Furthermore, greed, hatred, and delusion, these thieves and great enemies, should be destroyed by the army of loving-kindness, dependent origination, and the contemplation of ugliness (Aśubha) Samadhi.
