He, abandoning the suffering of guarding the master, acting freely without dependence, being free and without attachment, those which are also unrelated, what is contentment and joyful conduct like, even Indra finds it difficult to do. Having thought thus, practicing yoga, is it much or little hearing? And so on are related. Among them, the bodhisattva who is devoted to inner yoga seeks solitude, whether hearing much or little, the sons of the Buddhas, constantly strive in meditation. It means that the Buddha's teachings are to strive in meditation, if one strives in hearing and debate, then the great Bodhisattva Atisha said: There is no need for direct perception and inference, it is to dispel the debates of the outsiders. It is also said that, for speculation and rhetoric, as well as Bharata, the hundred thousand verses of the Nagas, the declaration of the god Indra, etc., whether hearing much or little, children, are satisfied with just hearing. In short, the sons of the Buddhas abandon their families, and practice as they have heard, having such essence. If the sons of the Buddhas strive in meditation, then is little hearing enough? If someone asks this, because they want to achieve omniscience, they must hear very much. As it is said in the scriptures: Hearing is never satisfied. Just like after attaining the ground, they still seek to hear. Here, those who have the habits of the rich, especially those who despise immaculate hearing, what else is it other than the influence of demons? Therefore, here the needs of bodhisattvas and children for hearing are not the same, first of all, even hearing just one verse, they also take it as the essence of practice, the word child, usually applies to all ordinary people, but here, those who have entered the right path, because they appear to be facing the noble ones, so they are of the noble lineage. Children are those who do not like true Dharma nature, these people are satisfied with just hearing, therefore it is shown that they do not practice. Being satisfied with just hearing is like a poor person declining. A poor person is a special case of poverty, because a poor person does not envy the leader of the lineage, so they do not engage in good deeds, and always suffer. That's what it means. After that, the one with intelligence, relies on a virtuous spiritual friend.

It is. The excellent Dharma should be sought. Those who possess the essence of oral instructions, from where do they hear those teachings? The primary cause for practicing the excellent Dharma lies in the virtuous friend. As it is said, the method of relying [on a guru], like that of the尊者(米拉日巴): rely on a place that abandons sorrow, and rely on the virtuous friend through respect, gain, offerings, and the door of practice. Having relied [on a guru], one should also seek the excellent Dharma. Therefore, one must rely [on a guru]. For example, in the biography of Paljung, it is said: One should learn how to rely on a lama. Just as Norzang relied on one hundred and eight lamas, we all should also learn. The meaning of "obtaining wealth through excellent oral instructions" is: Having sought the excellent Dharma in this way and heard much, all that is heard should be endowed with oral instructions, thereby turning towards practice. That is the meaning. Then, where is the stable place for meditation? A place where the forest is dense, people are scarce, and never disturbed. Thus, Prince Chandra Gomi said: "Where is the forest, the clear river, the comfortable and secluded place that is pleasant? If a celestial maiden is anointed with fragrant perfume, adorned with a garland of lotuses, would her beauty surpass the form of the gods?" And: "Endowed with trees whose roots, fruits, bark, and leaves are complete, a forest without concern, a clear stream flowing from the mountains, a place without attachment. The edge of a wide river, adorned with fallen, vast fruits, is delightful and boundless, like being lured into a home in the abyss of hell. A wide valley, free from idle people, is extremely peaceful. Vast resources, surrounded by lush forests, raise a continuous garland. The sound of the water's edge, the sound of the spring water, is as pleasant as the sound of a drum. We are not a place of affliction, as if proclaiming to a guest." Thus it is said. The first verse, the celestial river is an excellent forest. The first line indicates that affliction increases, and the latter line indicates that it is a place of detachment and aversion. Endowed with trees, etc., from the mountain and the river between the mountains to joy, and vast resources, etc., one is tired there from food and drink, etc., and even if one does not engage in labor, one can easily obtain things that are not owned by anyone. Furthermore, contemplate in a nomadic monastery.
