Great! I take refuge in things like Shantideva. Now with a mind of benefit, although there may be errors in what is said, I am ignorant of all that is to be known. However, there is no mistake in this way of practice. Whoever abides in this samadhi, it is like a good and precious jewel. All samadhis and others can enter. Now, let me briefly explain a little about how to cultivate the mind of conventional bodhicitta. The word "then" means that after what has been said before, it should be said. It is not shown in the order of practice. Among them, then, those who are wise and seek enlightenment should strive diligently in this. First, the place where to practice, although it is said that the place mentioned earlier is the most excellent. But it is not necessary to be like that, whether staying at home or in a remote place, like all Taras and, Brahmins become brothers and so on. The practitioner should mainly abide well within. However, one can also abide equally, or one can enjoy sensual pleasures. Thus, the initial entry into the conventional bodhicitta is the same for both ascetics and those with desires. In short, it can also arise in sentient beings in hell. Therefore, do not be discouraged by saying that I have not accumulated merit in the past. Whoever hears this path, all of them have power. This is not just a part of the path, practicing for a long time, in short, those who dwell in the pure land and, beginners who have just generated the mind of enlightenment, should practice this. However, due to the difference in faculties and paths, the objects and aspects are different. Now, let me briefly explain the method of practicing it. Briefly speaking, one should first cultivate compassion for all sentient beings. Among them, first among sentient beings, one should cultivate patience towards enemies and so on. Such compassion, in order to avoid being taken away by conditions, no matter what sentient being, remembering the kindness of enemies and so on who kill me with the intention of harming me, generating a loving heart. Compassion arises in them. If it still does not arise in the continuum, not understanding, parents and enemies, etc.

Or one should practice transforming appearances, or for the time being, without thinking of suffering as the main thing, practice loving-kindness, thinking how wonderful it would be if all beings were happy. Afterwards, one must definitely diligently practice compassion, otherwise the mind of enlightenment will not grow. Thus, wishing to place all beings in enlightenment, one must practice compassion. Without it, one only thinks of one's own benefit, so one becomes indifferent to the benefit of others, so one must also diligently endure oppression and suffering. Otherwise, one will also regress from the unsurpassed enlightenment, becoming angry or discouraged when harmed by others, and striving tirelessly for enlightenment through countless eons. If one becomes discouraged by this, one will not achieve great enlightenment. Those who possess incomparable compassion will be able to endure all of this. These are the methods for not losing the mind of enlightenment and for making it grow. Thus, if one diligently strives in these methods, one can gradually progress. Those of lesser faculties should first strive in giving and so on, which are easy for each individual to practice, and then one should truly study all the perfections. As it is said: Giving vegetables and so on, the teacher first practices giving, gradually becoming familiar with this, and then gradually giving away one's own flesh. The reason for this is: When one has the thought of one's own body as being like vegetables and so on, what difficulty is there in giving away one's flesh and so on? Thus, in the Ornament for the Categories of the Perfections, it is said: Number and its characteristics, order and determination, word and habitual qualities, these are well distinguished, collection and disagreement, qualities are mutually determined. Thus and so on is extensively explained. Here, to speak briefly, they are: characteristics, divisions, essence, definite number, order, definitive word, and result. Summarized: Characteristics, divisions, essence, number and order, definitive word, and result. Among these, the first, the venerable one said: Giving, the opposite of decline and, possessing non-discriminating wisdom, fulfilling all desires, sentient beings' ripening, these three.
