Think of dissolving into it and hold the vase breathing. By meditating in this way, during the day, before going to sleep, and when the clear light of sleep dawns, the awareness will become very clear and bright, and such an experience will arise. These are, in order, for accomplishing the wisdoms of appearance, increase, attainment, and clear light. Alternatively, visualize the central channel in the center of your body, and the navel and crown chakras, expanding and contracting as appropriate. In the center of the navel, visualize the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A), and at the crown, visualize a white, upside-down OM (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: OM). From the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel, ignite the fire of tummo, rising upwards through the central channel. When it touches the OM (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: OM) at the crown, white bodhicitta descends from the OM (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: OM) and dissolves into the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel. Visualize the white light of the stream of bodhicitta filling the entire body, and then hold the vase breathing. Alternatively, white light radiates from the letter OM (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: OM), descending through the central channel. It dissolves into the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A), and visualize the white light pervading the entire body. By meditating in this way, a white appearance will arise in the three states of daytime and so on. And when it becomes stable, in the center of the throat chakra, expanding and contracting as appropriate. Visualize a red, upward-pointing letter A (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: आ, Sanskrit Romanization: ā, Literal meaning: A). From the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel, ignite the fire of tummo wisdom, touching the A (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: आ, Sanskrit Romanization: ā, Literal meaning: A) at the throat. From that, a stream of red light or red bindu arises. Visualize that red light pervading the entire body. Finally, visualize dissolving into the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel, and hold the vase breathing. By meditating in this way, a red appearance will arise in those three states. And when it becomes stable, in the center of the heart chakra, expanding and contracting as appropriate, visualize a blue, upside-down HUNG (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: HUNG). From the A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel, ignite the fire of tummo. It touches the HUNG (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: HUNG) at the heart. From that, a nectar-like blue light descends. Visualize that blue light pervading the entire body, and hold the vase breathing. By meditating in this way, a black appearance will arise in those three states. And when it becomes stable, the OM (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: OM) at the crown, and the AH (Tibetan: ཨཱཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: आं, Sanskrit Romanization: āṃ, Literal meaning: AH) at the throat dissolve into the HUNG (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: HUNG) at the heart. The A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཤད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: A) at the navel also dissolves into the HUNG (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: HUNG) at the heart. The letter HUNG also

Without focusing on anything, think of it as dissolving and hold the vase breathing. By familiarizing yourself with this, a clear and lucid experience of awareness will arise in those three states. These two extractions of essence can be meditated upon according to one's inclination. By familiarizing yourself with this for a long time, the wisdom of luminosity, which is in accordance with appearance, increase, and attainment, will arise in your mindstream. Based on that, one will also recognize the three aspects of appearance, increase, and attainment on each and every object of perception. When going to sleep at night, one will also recognize the three aspects of appearance, increase, and attainment. One will be able to move in the luminosity of sleep. At the time of death, one will recognize the three aspects of appearance, increase, and attainment, and one will recognize the luminosity of death. The supplementary practice for extracting the essence of luminosity is to meditate on the two, totality-holding and subsequent analysis. First, the basis for the object of focus of totality-holding is to properly arrange the posture of the body. Leave awareness slightly in its natural state. Then, focus awareness intensely and simultaneously on all appearances of self and other, and observe them. When examining and investigating, all appearances will dissolve into the nature of reality in the mind, and remain in that state for a short time. Again, meditate on all appearances of self and other as deity forms simultaneously. When looking at and searching for the essence of those, remain for a short time in the empty nature of reality where nothing can be found. The basis for the object of focus of subsequent analysis is to focus awareness on the objects that appear in front of you. When looking at the essence, remain for a short time in the empty nature of reality where that appearance cannot be found anywhere in the mind. Again, meditate on those as deity forms. When looking at their essence, remain in the nature of reality where nothing can be found. When looking at and observing one's own body, remain equally in the empty nature where the appearance of the body completely dissolves in one's mind. Again, meditate on oneself as a deity form. When looking at its essence, remain in the state free from grasping. In the actual object of focus of totality-holding and subsequent analysis, there are four: meditating solely on totality-holding, meditating solely on subsequent analysis, meditating on the combination of the two, and meditating with the same basis for both. The first is to clearly visualize oneself as whatever yidam one practices, and actually meditate on the three stacked lords of the family, or as a representation of that, a round drop at the heart. In the center of that, meditate on the seed syllable of the yidam, and from that, radiate light.
