To perceive impurity as purity, and to perceive happiness as suffering, is the Dharma of reversal. To perceive impermanence as permanence, and to perceive permanence as impermanence, is the Dharma of reversal. To perceive selflessness as self, and to perceive self as selflessness, is the Dharma of reversal. To perceive impurity as purity, and to perceive purity as impurity, is the Dharma of reversal. So it is said. In the Lankavatara Sutra, it is said to transcend mind-only. At this time, the sutra itself says: Relying on mind-only, one does not contemplate external objects. Relying on the absence of appearance, one should transcend mind-only. Relying on the true object, one should transcend the absence of appearance. If a yogi dwells in the absence of appearance, he will not see the Great Vehicle. Thus, those who conform to the ordinary world of self, and speak like the two Hearer schools, without knowing that explaining the meaning of the Great Vehicle is the source of faults, and who regard the mere establishment of convention as conforming to mind-only as a fault, is either a revision by Mönba Grogra, or a text from the land of Lāva, which is a great cause for laughter. The three natures are also taught in the Perfection of Wisdom. At this time, in the chapter of Maitreya's Questions, it says: Maitreya, a Bodhisattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom and dwells in the skillful discrimination of Dharmas, should know the establishment of the division of form in three ways. Likewise, the establishment of the division of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, up to the Dharma of the Buddha, should be known, namely: This is the form of complete imputation. This is the form of dependence. This is the form of perfect reality. Likewise, this is the feeling of complete imputation. This is the feeling of dependence. This is the feeling of perfect reality. Likewise, this is the perception of complete imputation. This is the perception of dependence. This is the perception of perfect reality. Likewise, this is the formation of complete imputation. This is the formation of dependence. This is the formation of perfect reality. Likewise, this is the consciousness of complete imputation. This is the consciousness of dependence.

From what is called the consciousness of suchness, thus, these are the Buddha-dharmas that are completely imputed, these are the Buddha-dharmas that are discriminated, these are the Buddha-dharmas of suchness. Having spoken thus, the Bodhisattva Maitreya addressed the Blessed One as follows: Blessed One, what is the form that is completely imputed? What is the form that is discriminated? What is the form of suchness? Blessed One, what are the feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses that are completely imputed? Blessed One, what are the Buddha-dharmas that are completely imputed? What are the Buddha-dharmas that are discriminated? What are the Buddha-dharmas of suchness? The Blessed One said: Maitreya, the object of the characteristics of formations, relying on those and those things, such as names, thoughts, signs, establishments, and conventions, whatever is completely imputed as the nature of form, this is the form that is completely imputed. Maitreya, the object of the characteristics of formations, relying on those and those things, such as names, thoughts, signs, establishments, and conventions, from feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses to what is called Buddha-dharmas, whatever is completely imputed as the nature of feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses to the nature of Buddha-dharmas, these are the feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses that are completely imputed, from feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses to Buddha-dharmas, these are the Buddha-dharmas that are completely imputed. The object of the characteristics of formations, relying on those and those things, only abiding in the suchness of discrimination, whatever is manifestly spoken relying on discrimination, this is the form of names, thoughts, signs, establishments, and conventions. Whatever is from feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousnesses to Buddha-dharmas, that is the form that is discriminated. This is the feeling that is discriminated, the perception that is discriminated, the formation that is discriminated, the consciousness that is discriminated, the Buddha that is discriminated.
