This supreme principle, although it is the ultimate intention of all three turnings of the wheel of Dharma, the sutras that mainly expound this principle are: the Maitreya Questions chapter of the Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, the Five Hundred Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, the Lankavatara Sutra, the Ratnakuta Sutra, and the common and uncommon points explained in the Avatamsaka Sutra. Also, the Tathagatagarbha Sutra, the Srimala Simhanada Sutra, and some of the sutras included in the Arya Ratnakuta, the Ghanavyuha Sutra, the Suvarnaprabhasa Sutra, the Dharanimandalasvararaja-pariprccha Sutra, the Gunasamcaya-jnana-agamana Sutra, the Angulimaliya Sutra, the Arya Mahamegha Sutra, the Arya Ratnamegha Sutra, the Arya Mahabheri Sutra, the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, the Rabs tu zhi ba rnam nges kyi ting nge 'dzin gyi mdo, and so on. Also, most of the tantric scriptures clearly explain the most uncommon meanings. Most of the direct teachings of the intermediate wheel mainly focus on settling into the unfabricated, profound sphere of meditative equipoise, without focusing on anything. Those teachings that establish the knowable, such as the Maitreya Questions chapter and the Five Hundred Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, should be explained as other-empty, as explained by the Sugata himself. Some sutras, such as the Ratnakuta Sutra, are mistaken as teaching self-emptiness. However, the countless sutras that mainly teach the conduct of bodhisattvas and the establishment of the paths and fruits are related to both. Most of the remaining sutras, such as the Arya Buddhabhumi Sutra and the Arya Dharmasamgiti Sutra, are in accordance with this Madhyamaka system. If so, one might think that the Mind-Only sutras and treatises would no longer exist separately. However, the sutras do not exist separately, just as the Vinaya and Abhidharma Pitakas do not have separate sutras. Although some scattered Mind-Only treatises clearly exist, they do not follow the Five Treatises of Maitreya and the treatises of the Asanga brothers, such as the Bodhicittotpada-sastra, etc., which are before Asanga.

Because of the prohibition from the arisen treatises, etc., it appeared before the Holy Nagarjuna. Therefore, it seems that five hundred teachers of Yoga practice, such as the great Bhikshu Abhidharma and Jñana Tala, appeared. Their treatises were not translated into Tibetan, just like the treatises of the eighteen schools. Therefore, in the Lankavatara Sutra, it says: "Because of speaking of no cause, one understands seeing as no cause. Because one does not understand external objects, one will destroy the Middle Way." Thus, the self-empty ones obstruct the ultimate Middle Way. Also, "If one thinks it is a nihilistic view, the grasping of things is not empty." Thus, all those who think that the conventional is established by valid cognition. Similarly, "By slander and superimposition, one will show the Middle Way." Thus, it is said that they are not the great Middle Way. Understanding in Mind-Only, external objects are very clear, one will turn back all discriminations, that path itself is the Middle Way. Thus, both external objects and consciousness-only are prohibited. Furthermore, "Abandoning existence and non-existence, there is a thing that is established. How can the nature be two, being liberated from existence and non-existence?" Thus, it is said that there is something that transcends the two, the grasped and the grasper, which are completely established, the Other-Empty Middle Way. Therefore, "It is Mind-Only, but there is no appearance. Because there is no appearance, it does not arise. This Middle Way path, I and others have also spoken." Thus, because there is no mistaken appearance, it transcends the Mind-Only of the four tenets, and it is also thought that it is not other than the mind, so the Middle Way path that is also in accordance with Mind-Only has been spoken by all the Buddhas. May all beings quickly realize this profound and difficult to understand supreme Mahayana Dharma, and may these virtues be dedicated to the purpose of practicing in the vast realm of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. This is a brief compilation of quotations related to the Ornament of Other-Empty Middle Way, composed by Jowo Nang Taranatha. Mangalam! Shubham! A Compilation of Quotations for the Ornament of Other-Empty Middle Way.
