Afflictions arise and cease together, from the near afflictions, not liberated, not liberated, will not be liberated, as the noble ones said. That which constantly becomes an obstacle to the mind, engaging in the true meaning, that which arises at all times, is regarded as unmingled ignorance. Therefore, it is believed that there are eight consciousnesses. Habit, ability, and predisposition are just names; such gross ones are the inner and unclear seeds, called cause and seed-producer. Manifest or discursive habit is the seed of mind wandering in objects. The habit of destructive view or self-view is divided by self-grasping, generating self-grasping itself. The habit of karma or existence is the seed of birth, death, prosperity, decline, happiness, and suffering. Various seeds of affliction can be known by this. If gathered, they are included in the two seeds of co-emergent and pervasive. The habit of two graspers is also the grasped and the grasper. Or the two habits of similar cause and maturation. From virtue, the arising of virtue, etc., is similar cause; from virtue, the arising of unspecified, etc., is maturation. Unspecified and afflicted mind are associated, and uncontaminated virtues are considered only as similar cause. For the latter, except for mastery. The consciousness that continues as long as samsara exists, and the basis of samsara and the path, is the Alaya, its nature is the inner clear awareness pervading thing, the cause is the accumulation of all new and old habits, the result is the appearance as the body that is the meaning of the abode, the action is holding all new and old seeds, the aspect is possessing all dharmas such as the seven consciousnesses, the object is focusing on itself and all results, the mode is existing in the manner of all abilities. The distinction is considered as two: maturation and seed. The Alaya consciousness is the master of the seven consciousnesses, the sense faculties are the sense consciousnesses, and the mind consciousness is considered the master of the afflicted mind. The object is also the five objects, dharma, and the Alaya. The generator is the immediately following similar kind. The immediately preceding is also considered as that, but it is the cause. The venerable one also said: Unreal conceptualization is mind and mental factors, the three realms, in that, the consciousness seeing meaning, its distinction arises from the mind, one is the consciousness of condition, the second is the near-acting one, near-acting and all-acting, and its acting arises from the mind.

Oṃ. The two appearances manifest in one's own realm, ignorance and afflictions accompany each other, the conceptual thoughts that enter arise greatly, and it is to eliminate the nature of two substances. The distinction of the object of focus is obtained because it possesses dwelling in its own realm. That very nature does not appear as two, entering like skin and an arrow. Mind appears as two, likewise attachment and so on, are considered to appear as faith and so on. Afflictions and virtuous dharmas are neither existent nor non-existent. Mind appears in various ways, entering into various forms. In that, the appearance is either existent or non-existent, therefore it is not the nature of dharma. From conceptual thought arise actions and suffering, and actions and suffering also create habits. From virtuous dharmas and conceptual thought arises non-conceptual thought, which destroys the seeds of dualistic appearance. Ignorance and conceptual thought reverse actions and suffering, or by thinning the dualistic appearance, ignorance is reversed. Abandoning that, actions and suffering are free from doing and being done. Thus, one knows the manner of entering and reversing samsara. The door of definitive emergence and ultimate selflessness. This is the fourth chapter, which establishes the definitive reasoning for establishing the eight aggregates of consciousness. In the Great Vehicle, the five dharmas are taught: The general characteristic of the place of expression, which is the nature of the movement of sound and mind, is the cause. In that, the general term for words is called name. Mind and mental phenomena are all conceptual thoughts. Suchness is beyond the realm of expression, it is only the realm of activity of the wisdom of the noble ones. Correct knowledge has two aspects: meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment. Habits, appearances, various signs, and whatever is imputed are called causes. Self-nature and images are causes. From conceptual and non-conceptual, clear and unclear, two causes are posited: with signs and without signs. Likewise, the five dharmas have five distinctions of their own nature. The name of a thing and likewise the name of relation, condensed and different, famous and not famous, the distinctions of names are all included in six. Although the distinctions of conceptual thought are endless, they are included in conceptual thoughts arising from signs and without signs, or afflicted and non-afflicted, or entering into objects and seekers, and three conceptual thoughts of individual distinction. Conceptual thought and knowledge are substantially existent, name is imputedly existent, and most causes are, likewise, suchness is truly existent.
