This is the determination of the distinctions, the second (chapter). Starting from the ultimate truth, the venerable one said in verses: Always free from duality, the basis of delusion, what is it, and in all kinds, It cannot be expressed, and its nature is without elaboration, only that. What should be known and abandoned, whose nature is immaculate, desiring anything to be purified, That is desired to be completely purified from afflictions, like the sky, gold, and water. Among sentient beings, there is nothing else besides that, And all sentient beings are also completely ignorant of it. Abandoning all existence and clinging to non-existence, what is it, How severe are these aspects of worldly ignorance! Thus, the meaning of the sphere, and, Suchness is in everything, although there is no difference, it is pure, Therefore, the Tathagatagarbha, all beings possess that nature. Thus, the meaning of the essence, and, Without birth and without death, without harm and without old age, Therefore, it is constant and stable, peaceful and eternal. Faults are endowed with temporality, virtues are endowed with self-nature, As before, so it is afterwards, it is the unchanging Dharma nature. Thus, the meaning of permanence, and, How is the nature without discrimination, like the sky that universally follows, The nature of mind, the immaculate realm, thus it is universally pervasive. That general characteristic of faults, and the ultimate pervasiveness of virtues, The forms of shapes are inferior, intermediate, and superior, like the sky. Thus, the meaning of pervasiveness, and, The stainless wisdom possessed by embodied beings is like the essence of honey. Afflictions are like bees, and to destroy them, the skillful victor is like a man. Thus, the meaning of wisdom, and, Why is that, it is the Dharmakaya, it is the Tathagata, It is the truth of the noble ones, the ultimate Nirvana. Therefore, like the sun and its rays, virtues are inseparable, Except for the Buddha, there is no Nirvana. Inseparable from the non-created luminosity, possessing the Ganges' sands, Transcending the dust of the Buddhas, possessing all Dharma natures. Like the great ocean, immeasurable, the inexhaustible place of precious virtues, Possessing inseparable virtues, therefore like a lamp. The wisdom of the Dharmakaya victor, and the realm of great compassion is condensed.

Therefore, These vessels and precious water, Are shown to be like the ocean. In the stainless state, direct knowledge and, That very stainless wisdom and, Because there is no distinction, like a butter lamp, Light, warmth, and color share the same qualities. What is it that inquires about these? Giving, ethics, patience, and so on, Possessing the supreme of all aspects, The emptiness is spoken of as form. This is the all-encompassing aspect. Neither existent nor nonexistent, neither thus nor other, Without birth or cessation, neither diminishing nor changing, Without increase, nor is it pure, Becoming pure is the ultimate sign. This is the characteristic of being free from elaboration. Like precious jewels, the sky, and water, Its nature is always free from afflictions. Just as the sky pervades all, It is subtle and therefore not stained. Likewise, in all sentient beings, This nature is not stained. This is the characteristic of being unmixed. Possessing the characteristic of distinction, The realm is empty due to sudden events. Possessing the characteristic of non-distinction, It is not empty of the unsurpassed Dharma. This Is the characteristic of union. The complete Buddha body radiates, Likewise, the nature of suchness is inseparable, Because there is lineage, all embodied beings, Always possess the Buddha-nature. Buddha lotus, honey bee, Husk, essence, impure gold, Treasure, sprouts, and fruits in the earth, The Victor's body in tattered clothes, Lord of men in the womb of a bad woman, Just as there are precious forms in the earth, Likewise, that realm abides in sentient beings, Obscured by the stains of sudden afflictions. Thus, it is also shown as lineage and realm. The teacher Nagarjuna said: What is the nature of the Thus-gone One? It is the nature of these beings. If the nature of the Thus-gone One does not exist, The nature of these beings does not exist. The non-existence spoken of in this way is without elaboration, Otherwise, without a basis, one analyzes qualities, What is the point of analyzing something like an illusion? It cuts off the doubt that the nature of beings is substantial. The Dharmadhatu is the Thus-gone One's essence, Eternal, all-pervading, self-aware wisdom, and The all-encompassing is the characteristic of complete determination, Freedom from elaboration and unstained is the meaning of discernment. The nature of union, lineage, and the ultimate realm, Thus, these are its characteristics.
