Because it is not permanent, and there is no third possibility, it cannot be a condition. The distinctions of cutting off states, which are liberated from all defilements, and the distinctions of entering and continuing, are all indicated by the person. If there is a person, then everything is either effortless liberation or no liberation. One and cause, as well as the eater, the maker and the controller, the meaning of lordship and permanence, the place of defilement and purity, the yogi and the unliberated and liberated, these are regarded as self. Thirteen kinds of antidotal wisdoms are spoken of. The object of this self-grasping is the five aggregates of one's own continuum, viewing them as self. Because of delusion, conceptualizations are not deeply rooted, therefore, it is possible to generate the idea of grasping at self even in the continuums of others and what does not belong to the continuum. Aggregates are sometimes one, sometimes five, etc., and it is seen that they enter in an uncertain way. Grasping at what belongs to self is also the view of the perishable collection, mainly arising in the continuums of self and others other than consciousness, as well as in possessions, etc., but it is not certain. Saying that is the way of grasping, the actual object does not exist. Without investigation, in accordance with the world, a person is established, but in the sense of things, it has never existed, it is merely nominally established as existent. The seer, sentient beings, etc., are also the same, it is a mistake to think that they exist in things and in meaning. With inverted wisdom, there is a difference from ignorance, because many ignorances are interconnected, so some wise people also use the term ignorance. It has already been said that it can be summarized into three defilements. Nagarjuna also said: If the aggregates are the self, then there will be birth and death. If it is different from the aggregates, then there will be no nature of the aggregates. If the god is the same as the person, then it will be permanent. If the god is different from the person, then it will be impermanent. The appropriated aggregates are not the self, they are arising and ceasing. How can the appropriated be the appropriator? The self is not established elsewhere than from the appropriated. The person is not earth, not water, not fire, not wind, not space, not consciousness, if it is not everything, then what is the person other than that? The Hundred Treatises also says: If the inner self is not female, not male, and not neuter, then other than not knowing, is your self male?

Mind. Because a man is not the self, due to the difference in appearance from a woman. Understand the same for women and hermaphrodites. How can there be one entity with contradictory characteristics? If the desirous one is the self, then the non-desirous one would not become the self. If bondage is considered the self, then it is not liberation. If contradictory characteristics are also possible, then earth and so on, would it not be too much to be the self? If it is exactly that, then it contradicts various things. Because it is experienced through feeling, the experiencer is not the self. If that is the self, then the taker is the hand, the goer is the foot, but that is not taking and going. Since it is seen that actions are done by body, speech, and mind, why do I experience the result if I have not done it? Since there is no collection other than the parts, body, speech, and mind are never the self. If everything is the self, then it becomes dependent on others, impermanent, and deluded. Because it changes into many, the self does not exist. If, in the manner of pervasion, the pervader and the pervaded are one, then there is the fault mentioned earlier, and if the pervader and the pervaded are not one, then the self will not experience happiness and suffering. If it is unrelated to virtue and vice, then karmic results and, bondage and liberation, etc., will not exist for it. If offering is the self, then qualities and spiritual friends will also become the thought of the self, and will tend towards offering. Like the thought of a mountain without distinction. Also, in the manner of the Vinaya Pitaka: The so-called self is the mind of a demon. You are one who has become a view. This aggregate of formations is empty, there is no sentient being in it. Just as the collection of limbs, relying on them, is called a chariot. Likewise, relying on the aggregates, it is conventionally called a sentient being. Because of striving for the benefit of the most excellent other, and because of having the intellect of arising and ceasing. From the power of beings over this, etc., know that the self is different from them. If the body is the self, then it can be separated, and if the mind is the self, then mind and mental factors can also be separated. If it is other than both, then search inside and outside. If it is just a general collection, then there is no substance. For the self, having a body is not reasonable, characteristics and, cause and effect, the support and the supported, the relationship of the owner. None of them are reasonable, because they have faults. The characteristics have been previously negated, they do not produce each other. If they produce, then it becomes impermanent, and likewise becomes dependent on others. If the body is the support, then the self becomes birth and death. If the self is the support, then the body becomes permanent. The self and body mutually exist, desiring the relationship of the owner. On form, the self is not seen at all, inside or outside. If the self dwells on form, then it becomes separate
