The three who will not return, and the Arhat who is beyond learning, and the beings, that is, the ordinary individuals of the six realms of beings, their merit, whatever good deeds they have done, for all of these, I rejoice. Rejoicing is being extremely happy. The term "following" refers to the occasion when someone has done something or obtained a result, and one focuses on it again and engages in it, like following after someone who has already passed. Generally speaking, merit is divided into merit and non-merit, and the three immovable actions, as well as merit accompanied by wisdom, etc. But here, it refers to all virtuous dharmas. Regarding confession and rejoicing, whether it is good or evil that one has done oneself, or encouraged others to do, or rejoiced in what others have done, as well as praising and extolling them, one should engage in confession and rejoicing. However, the object of confession is mainly the sins one has committed oneself, while the object of rejoicing is mainly the virtues of others. Regarding the good deeds one has done oneself, if one regrets them, the merit will not increase; if one is without arrogance and cultivates joy, the merit will increase. Rejoicing in the good deeds of others does not diminish their merit, and even without one's own effort or action, one can obtain great merit in one's own mindstream, which is a superior merit. Noble Bodhisattvas who have realized the Dharmadhatu directly, and those who have obtained clear appearances of all things, to the extent that the worldly virtues clearly appear in their objects of focus, they obtain the same merit by rejoicing in them. For example, the virtues accumulated by all beings in the three thousand great thousand world systems for a hundred kalpas, a single noble Bodhisattva sees clearly with their clairvoyance without any confusion. By meditating for just one moment on rejoicing without discrimination towards all of these, through the power of that rejoicing, the Bodhisattva obtains in their own mindstream in that instant the same amount of merit that those beings accumulated during that time. Similarly, it should be extended to infinity.

Thus, sentient beings of the desire realm are not in a state of meditative stabilization. Those of the form realm are in meditative stabilization in the four dhyanas, and those of the formless realm are also only in meditative stabilization in the meditative absorptions of the formless realms. All the remaining Arya Hearers and Solitary Realizers, their physical basis belongs to the three realms, but the mental basis of the Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Realizers is only beyond the three realms. The minds of those in training also possess the mind of the three realms, but the nature of the mind-stream, whatever part has become the stream of an Arya, know that it is beyond the three realms. The mental body of an Arhat without remainder, and the sensory body of one with remainder, and for the Great Vehicle Aryas, if the body is also beyond the three realms, what need is there to mention the mind? Thus, even ordinary beings belonging to the three realms, there are those who have entered the path and those who have not. Here, those who have entered the path are included among Bodhisattvas and those in training. The term "all beings" refers to all sentient beings of the three realms who have not entered the path. The Hearers who are on the path of accumulation and the path of preparation are the near cause of Hearer Aryas in training, so it is understood that they belong to that category and are not mentioned. The Solitary Realizers who abide on the path of accumulation are similar. Those on the path of preparation and the Arya trainees also exist slightly, but because it is considered short-lived, trainees are not mentioned separately. Therefore, those who directly realize the meaning of the four truths, primarily the selflessness of persons, are Aryas, and those who do not realize it are ordinary beings. The realization of the path of accumulation and preparation of Hearers occurs first, and by directly seeing the meaning of the four truths, among the afflictions belonging to the three realms, those that are part of what is abandoned by seeing, such as wrong views and doubt, have been abandoned, but in general, the afflictions belonging to the three realms that have not been abandoned are called Stream-enterers. These afflictions that have not been abandoned by this person are called what is to be abandoned by meditation, and of these, two-thirds of the afflictions belonging to the desire realm have been abandoned, and when one-third remains, they are called Once-returners. Belonging to the desire realm
