So, how should one rest appropriately? The length of the initial meditation session can be adjusted according to one's own mind. Afterwards, when one becomes slightly accustomed and interested in meditation, the session can be increased slightly. If one feels tired, it should be shortened slightly. When one is slightly accustomed to these, then, for this sutra, first there is the basis for discussion, then the instigation of discussion, then the emptiness of the eight profoundnesses, and the six things to be mastered, including benefits and rejoicing, etc. This meaning is my object of meditation, etc., think as before. In order to make this aim clear, each time of focus should be about three or four times longer than the previous one. In each session, one should meditate forty or fifty times, etc. If one becomes accustomed to this for a long time, then at the beginning of each session, meditate as before. During the main part, the emptiness that is said to possess the eight profoundnesses taught in this sutra is not something else, but like this: the various phenomena of self, others, the environment, and sentient beings are merely appearances of one's own confused mind, and in reality, they do not exist at all. Think about this again and again. If you have thought about it twenty-one times, etc., then, again, use the previous two objects as guides, and meditate like that twenty-one times, etc. If you get a little used to this, then you can also add the remembrance of one, two, or many reasons, such as the unborn, etc., according to your own understanding. Similarly, the aggregates are these that exist on self, others, the environment, and sentient beings, and all of them have not been established from the beginning, remember the reasons such as one or many, and cultivate a strong desire. Similarly, one must also practice with the elements, the sense bases, dependent origination, the four truths, and what is and is not. If the mind is broad, meditate in order. If the mind is small, meditate on one of them that is comfortable and clear to the mind. These are the preliminary stages of entering the main practice. Now for the main practice, from the seven-limbed prayer to the end of thinking about the meaning of the sutra, once completed, all appearances of self, others, the environment, sentient beings, samsara, and nirvana are like illusions, and in reality, they are not established at all.

Remembering a little about the separation of one and many, etc., also generate conviction. Thus, when resting equally on all appearances of self and other, rest greatly and equally on that which does not establish anything. In this way, think of non-truth, generate conviction, and rest in the natural state. Repeat these three again and again, ten or twenty-one times, etc., as appropriate. Then, again remember the meaning of the sutra, and as before, make twenty-one, etc., objects of focus. In between these, remember the benefits of this Prajnaparamita Sutra, and the qualities of the Buddha who spoke it. Generate great faith and respect for the Buddha and the Dharma in general, and especially for this sutra, and meditate. Also, clearly generate strong compassion especially for confused beings. If this becomes the key point, then about every seven days or so, rest equally without intention, lengthening it little by little. Moreover, if the appearance of nothing whatsoever arises before the non-conceptual wisdom, then lengthen it. If awareness is not clear and is dim, then even resting awareness without fabrication is of no benefit, so it is important to strengthen the first two key points. At those times, if you can meditate for a long time, then rest during the meditation breaks, and it is enough to do the ten practices in order, etc. If you do not meditate for a long time, then the Dharma activities during the meditation breaks are very important. In this regard, the activities during the meditation breaks are generally all Dharma activities, but especially writing this sutra, making offerings to this sutra volume, reading the sutra volume, reciting the text, explaining or listening to the meaning of the sutra, thinking, and so on. Having become familiar with these, through the nine stages of abiding of the mind, shamatha with emptiness as its object, and repeatedly cultivating the nature of one's own mind, especially relying on a small part of vipashyana, one will gain certainty about emptiness, etc., which is the same as the common. At that time, in the state where self-nature is not established anywhere, the clear appearance of the mind, and the appearance of forms, etc., which are the objects of samadhi, mainly arise from the power of non-conceptuality, and rarely arise during investigation. This should be introduced as a sign that the nature of the mind is luminosity, and that the nature is all aspects. Practice.
