Therefore, from the face of the Victorious Teacher himself, in the Great Sutra of Emptiness belonging to the first turning of the wheel, it is also said: Ananda, therefore, where something is not, it is empty of that. Having correctly seen this, if there is any remainder there, then that is there, and it is fully understood as it is. Ananda, for example, because the outflows are exhausted, there is no outflow, and the liberation that is not manifestly accumulated, this is the unsurpassed entry into emptiness. Thus it is said. In the Great Sutra of Emptiness, the three emptinesses of outer emptiness, inner emptiness, and outer-inner emptiness are also spoken of, which are the same as this. In the extensive texts of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra of the intermediate turning of the wheel, it is also said: Among them, what is the emptiness that is empty of otherness? Whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the abiding nature of the Dharma, the Dharma nature, the Dharma realm, the faultless nature of the Dharma, suchness, the unconfused suchness, the non-other suchness, the true limit, this is the abiding nature. Thus, that which is empty of otherness is called the emptiness of other things. Subhuti, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattvas. Thus it is said. In the sutras of the final turning of the wheel, it is said even more extensively and clearly. The main emptiness of the direct teaching, indirect teaching, and intention of all three turnings of the wheel of the teachings is only the Great Madhyamaka of Other-Emptiness, and it is not spoken of according to the system that holds all phenomena to be empty of self-nature. Therefore, the tenet of establishing all conventional dharmas as being empty of their own nature from the beginning is the intention of the Self-Empty Pure Victor, but if it is thought that the ultimate reality is also empty of its own nature, then it is a very inverted view. Therefore, the tenet that combines the two, that is, the views of the Prasangika and Svatantrika schools, is like delicious food mixed with poison. If one can understand that all conventionalities are empty of self-nature, and that the ultimate reality is empty of otherness, this union view, which is endowed with all qualities, is the reality of the nature of phenomena and the intention of all Buddhas. The reason for this is that the nature of phenomena is always abiding, truly established but not

By saying "it is not," they commit the sin of slandering the true Dharma Jewel. The true Dharmakaya is all-pervasive, but they say it is not all-pervasive. The all-pervasive Dharma nature is endowed with all qualities, but they say it has no qualities. This is a great sin of slandering the true Buddha Jewel. Furthermore, they say that the Samadhi of the great saints is endowed with all aspects, but that nothing appears. These extremely terrible faults of disparaging the Sangha Jewel mainly befall those known as Svatantrikas, while those who speak of other-emptiness are liberated from these faults. Now, let us enter into the meaning of the words. Explaining this sutra is done in three parts: first, arousing wonder by way of introducing the topic; second, establishing the profound and vast meaning; and finally, rejoicing and manifest praise. The first part includes two aspects: the introductory words and the door of the origin of the sutras. The first aspect is "Thus I have heard," and so on. Among these, "Thus" means: What is the Dharma taught by the Buddha like? It is "Thus" or "Like this," from "Bhagavan" to the final "rejoicing" all belong to "Thus heard," therefore, this is the perfection of Dharma. "I" refers to the compiler Vajrapani, I personally heard it. When this sacred sutra was spoken, the teacher and the assembly of attendants were personally present, so it was not heard through transmission from others. The teacher, because of mastering various manifestations, did not specifically mention whether it was summer or autumn, but used the broad term "at one time," which is the perfection of time. "Bhagavan" is translated from the Sanskrit word Bhagavan (བྷ་ག་ཝཱན།, bhagavān, 薄伽梵), because of possessing all excellent qualities, it is called "Possessing Virtue," or because of destroying and eliminating all faults, fears, and sufferings, and possessing the virtue of subduing the faults of others, it is called "Bhagavan," one who has abandoned faults, possesses all qualities, and can relieve the suffering of others, is the protector and the supreme noble being.
