Merely contemplating its meaning is not the meaning of "path of no arising" in this context. What then is it? The so-called "nature of the path is no arising" means "path of the nature of no arising." That is, whether it is the samadhi of one's own lineage or the subsequent attainment of the path, all the elaborations such as arising, abiding, and ceasing are the nature of pacification in their own place, or, even if some appear as the nature of actual elaboration, they are controlled by the power of samadhi without elaboration, and the characteristics of elaboration are weakened and become similar to no elaboration, which is the path of the nature of no arising. And the way to realize or understand it is: in samadhi, there is only self-awareness, and in subsequent attainment, there are both. Therefore, the non-conceptual wisdom of the samadhi of the Bodhisattvas, realizing the selflessness of phenomena, having the nature of non-elaboration, is the real path to accomplish perfect and complete enlightenment. And in the continuum of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, realizing the selflessness of persons, etc., whatever their infallible wisdom is, whatever the way of realization is, whatever the merits are, and whatever the benefits are, are all the same as that. Together with many incidental merits, because it possesses those, it is called the path of the three vehicles. And because it is known by self-awareness, it is the knowledge of the path. Until the three things of completion, maturation, and purification are not done, it has the function of not manifesting the true limit, and the function of not intentionally abandoning afflictions at other times, etc. Although these are said to be the characteristics of the knowledge of the path in the stage of the Bodhisattva, it is not necessary for the establishment of the knowledge of the path to be like that. Buddha is the ultimate fruit, so in the stage of omniscience, all three—names, characteristics, and distinctions—are explained. And because the Bodhisattva has not manifested all the fruits, only a part of the path is mentioned. The third thing is the base knowledge. In the sutra it says: "Lord, why is the all-knowingness of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas?" Subhuti, all refers to as many phenomena, internal and external, as there are, and the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas know that much, but not all the paths know, nor do they know in all ways. Therefore, the Hearers
