It is said that the teachings expounded in the Madhyamakāvatāra, etc., seem unreliable because they contain the three faults of addition, subtraction, and error. Here, let me briefly mention the nature of the ten bhūmis. Gyaltsap Rinpoche said: Bodhisattvas have perfectly pure views, their ethics are extremely pure and equally maintained, they abandon self in the Dharma, sever the continuum and all afflictions, they are perfectly pure, without different kinds of pride, they attain equanimity with a single moment of mind, they purify the fields, ripen sentient beings, they are wise, powerful, and have a complete body, and are skilled in definitely teaching the empowerment. As it is said, like that. The first bhūmi, the Joyful, is because of directly realizing the nature of reality, views are perfectly pure, and one attains the correct non-conceptual wisdom. Generally, in all the bhūmis, all ten pāramitās are fully practiced, but here, generosity is mainly practiced. In the second bhūmi, not to mention body and speech, even the slightest mental faults are completely absent, and one enters into the absence of faults naturally, without needing to strive, therefore ethics are extremely pure, and one practices that pāramitā. The third bhūmi, generally, the common worldly samādhis such as the formless realms, etc., have already been attained before, but here, the unique sphere of activity of the bodhisattvas themselves, which is not the common sphere of activity of other non-Buddhists, śrāvakas, and pratyekabuddhas, the difference in samādhi of the same kind as the formless realms, etc., achieves immeasurable kinds of worldly samādhi, and one abides equally, here the faith of trusting in the Dharma of the scriptures increases exceedingly, however, the craving for the Dharma has not slightly turned back. In the fourth bhūmi, one obtains the unique, boundless, and inseparable qualities of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment of the bodhisattvas, and abandons the pride of difference in the expresser and the expressed Dharma, although there was no attachment to one before, here, because of slightly realizing it, the craving for the Dharma of the scriptures completely turns back, but faith is not diminished, but increases. The fifth bhūmi, hearing the meaning of the four truths.

Having heard the various classifications of things that even the names and directions are not understood by the Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and in order to realize the infinite Suchness of coming and going, therefore, in the manner of equality with the ten suchnesses as unborn equality, etc., the concept of clinging to all self and other vessels and essences as different continuums is broken, thereby abandoning the arrogance in the continuum. The sixth ground is that, by becoming very familiar with the interdependent sequence of coming and going of the conventional Suchness, which is uncommon to the Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the ultimate Suchness, and its state, thereby abandoning the arrogance of viewing defilement and purification as different, realizing that both defilement and purification are emptiness, and obtaining even more excellent merits than before. The seventh ground is that, although there is diligent effort, by the power of constantly abiding in the signless Samadhi, the power of generating the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, etc., and immeasurable Dharma doors in the continuum from moment to moment is obtained, therefore, the establishment of the previous six grounds as the cause and this ground as the result also arises, and the seven grounds themselves, when divided internally, also abide in the state of path and fruit. In the first six grounds, although it is not desired to generate conceptual thoughts with signs, there are times when they arise, but this does not happen in this ground, so unless it is generated by intention, it is possible to abide in signlessness. The eighth ground is that, without effort, signlessness is naturally accomplished and abided in, and for this reason, realization and wisdom are not interrupted, therefore, great forbearance of non-retrogression and non-origination is obtained. This ground is called abandonment because it does not require effort, and because one Alaya-consciousness of the same kind can simultaneously manifest bodies in all Buddha-fields in the ten directions, therefore, freedom to purify the Buddha-fields is obtained. The ninth ground is that, having obtained the four analytical knowledges, one is able to teach the Dharma in accordance with the thoughts of limitless beings, etc., and also obtains the freedom to fully ripen beings. The tenth ground is that, because one has obtained excellent powers such as supernormal knowledge, and immeasurable Samadhi and Dharani doors, one has obtained the complete Dharmakaya.
