Merely the ground is called stainless Bodhi, not that there was previously defilement and cyclic existence, which was later abandoned, but because defilement has never been established from the beginning, it is said that there is no separation from defilement. As Gyaltsab Rinpoche said: There is nothing other than duality, which is the cause of error. Therefore, liberation is merely the cessation of error. These are from the perspective of the other-powered arising without inherent existence. Now, in the Dharmadhatu of Suchness, in the time of Samsara, merits do not diminish and faults do not increase; in the state of liberation, faults or obscurations do not diminish, and merits do not increase. The appearance of diminishing or increasing is merely an illusion of sentient beings themselves. Because faults or obscurations have never existed from the beginning, the appearance of increasing and growing in the state of Samsara is not established in reality. In truth, because there is nothing to be abandoned, the appearance of diminishing and abandoning in the state of liberation is merely a mental appearance. The merits of conventional truth, which are included in the path, are not truly established, so the appearance of increasing through meditation is also not truly established. The merits of the original Dharma-nature have been naturally present from the very beginning, so in the time of Samsara, sentient beings are merely obscured by sleep and do not see them, but the Dharma-nature itself has no part of diminishing or decreasing. Therefore, at the time of attaining Buddhahood, the appearance of newly arising immeasurable merits is merely the appearance of the mind in the stage of learning. Other than seeing the Dharma-nature as it is because of the removal of obscurations, there is nothing new that arises. As Gyaltsab Rinpoche said: Faults are endowed with suddenness, and merits are endowed with self-nature, so just as before, so also afterwards, it is the unchanging Dharma-nature. The praise also says: You have not created a little, nor have you hindered anything, how it was before, so it is afterwards, realize it in Suchness. Suchness is the unchanging, perfectly established mind-nature, the mind-nature is naturally luminous, the non-dual wisdom or Dharmadhatu ultimate truth, which is called the Tathagatagarbha. How is the Suchness of the previous Samsaric beings? How is the Dharma of the later Nirvana?

Its very nature is also like that. For the unchanging and constant nature, there is no obstructing of any afflictive dharmas, neither removing nor diminishing. Nor does it generate or perfect any pure virtuous dharmas, that is, understanding the meaning of neither removing nor diminishing perfection, is Buddhahood. These clearly show the perfected nature, the ultimate truth, the absence of inherent existence. In this way, this sutra and this praise also clearly show only the Other-Empty Great Madhyamaka. But here, holding a mere shadow of emptiness in the heart, listing many arguments that seem to establish union, like some madmen, speaking incoherent long discourses, is completely inconsistent with the views of those known as self-empty proponents. However, "Respecting those without qualities is foolish, born from non-virtuous actions." The meaning of what is said is true. Most of those who have not accumulated merit and have not purified obscurations, and who hope for wisdom to increase from the past to the present, have also completely turned away from the ultimate meaning, it has been so in the past, it will be so in the future, and it is so now. Only those who have accumulated perfect virtuous merit will have faith in this profound meaning. Those people, even if they are not diligent and not disciplined, only by the power of faith, are closer to accumulating merit in a hundred eons than those who say that all dharmas are self-empty, who have discipline, and who have diligence. The Blessed One also said, "Even if a champaka flower withers, it is not comparable to other ordinary flowers. Even if my bhikshu breaks his vows, he is not comparable to other ordinary heretics." This sentence should also be quoted here. Those who are known as self-empty proponents, because they hate the ultimate sacred Dharma and are jealous of many Bodhisattvas, are Buddhist heretics. Those who speak of Other-Empty Great Madhyamaka, because they have the right to observe the secrets of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind, therefore establish the difference with a general name, calling them "my bhikshus," showing them as uncommon sons of the Buddha. In this place where I speak, the Buddha and the Buddha's sons are witnesses,
