If the two are different, it is because each will become a fault; and, for a single thing, the existence and non-existence of the producer are contradictory. This is the reasoning of existence and non-existence of arising and ceasing. Things do not arise from themselves, because they have already been established in themselves. They do not arise from others, because they depend on the producer itself. For example, a sprout does not arise from others, because the sprout itself depends on the seed of the same lineage. If it arises without depending on it, then it will also arise from all unrelated other things. It is not from both (arising), because it is said that there is no change in both. It also does not arise without a cause, because without a cause it does not depend on others. It will become the fault of "always existing or not existing." Therefore, It is only an illusion of arising that appears, but in reality, arising is not established. In this way, true arising never exists, and if only from the perspective of arising, it is said: The first and thatness otherness and, Own nature self and otherness transform, From the distinctions of all defilements, It is said that tolerance is attained for the unborn dharma. In this way, many terms for the complete non-existence of special arising are also spoken. Also, the examination of time is: From a temporary cause, it is not reasonable for a result to arise. Not from the unperished (cause), you accept the arising of dreams and nets. Of the perished and unperished, The arising of cause and result, Arises like the arising of illusion, You say that all is the same. It is said that cause and result are not self-existent, because in essence, it is not possible for them to be different in time, nor is it possible for them to be the same in time. If it is said that they arise in different times, with a sequence, then it is unreasonable for them to arise from a perished cause, and if it is reasonable, then it would be a fault for a domestic bird to make a sound after it dies. It is also unreasonable for a result to arise from a perished illusion, and if it is reasonable, then when a combustible object is burning, there would be ashes that have already been burned at the stage of the cause. Therefore, all causes and results that have a sequence and are simultaneous should be understood as being like dreams or illusions. Symbolizing with it, all compounded dharmas, although they exist in conventional truth, are said to be non-existent in ultimate truth.

Regarding "non-cessation": "The existent transforms into abiding, it does not transform into destruction. The non-existent, being unrecognized, does not transform into destruction." It is said thus. Form and so on are not destroyed by their own nature. If they exist by their own nature, they are not destroyed; if they do not exist, they are not destroyed. If they exist, they are not destroyed, because existence is abiding, and abiding and destruction are contradictory at the same time. If they do not exist, they are not destroyed, because there is nothing to be destroyed in what has already ceased. Thus, cessation and destruction are the same in meaning but different in name. Non-destruction is non-cessation. Regarding "non-arising and non-cessation": Some hypocrites explain it as meaning "the nature of consciousness does not arise in any way, and the ability does not cease in any way." This is in accordance with the terminology of those who are known as great meditators in Tibet, and it seems to be a good and easy-to-understand explanation to ordinary people. However, the great chariot masters have not said this, and the meaning of "non-arising" is understood as having ceased, and the meaning of "non-cessation" is understood as arising. Therefore, it is completely inconsistent with the meaning of the words of this sutra, and such self-made ideas should be abandoned. It is also said: "Therefore, these aggregates that you speak of arise entirely from discrimination. Even though all knowable things appear, it is said that there is no arising and no cessation." This means that the aggregates and so on are originally empty. Therefore, these aggregates of the container and its contents arise only from discrimination, and it should be known that they are established only by discrimination. Although these are only appearances in the illusion of conventional truth, they have no own-nature, and therefore there is no arising and no cessation. Furthermore, in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: "Why did the perfectly enlightened Buddha say that the world is conditioned by ignorance? Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that these aggregates are discrimination." This means that all the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of the world arise from the power of ignorance. Therefore, they must be consciousness, only discrimination. Since it is a false cause, why is it not false? This is its meaning. By negating the five aggregates, and by negating the characteristics and arising and cessation, the main point is to show the non-own-nature of the imputed characteristic. Now, taking "immaculate, without separation from impurity" as the premise, constant
