Because it does not exist. Therefore, if the conventional exists, it must exist in an interdependent manner, such as things, non-things, one, many, etc., and exist as an object of investigation by the conventional mind, and exist in a discursive manner. However, the ultimate does not exist in those things, but the self-awareness and self-intoxication of great wisdom, free from elaboration, in all aspects, has always existed from the beginning, free from the three stages of arising, ceasing, and abiding. It exists as the nature of the ultimate, and is true in reality. In the nature of non-elaboration, it is constant, stable, and firm, abiding in the state of peaceful great perfection. For example, from a single gathering of illusionists, if countless illusions arise, then the fundamental basis of the infinite emanations is that single gathering. It is said that that single gathering pervades all the emanations, and if analyzed, the illusionary emanations do not exist from the beginning. Therefore, the gathering cannot pervade, and there is no one who relies on the gathering. However, without analysis, when refuted from both appearance and gathering, it is like establishing the distinctions of pervasion and dependence. All conventional objects of knowledge are also considered to rely on the ultimate realm, and the ultimate realm pervades all objects of knowledge. If analyzed, since the conventional does not exist from the beginning, the object to be pervaded by the ultimate realm is destroyed, and there is no one who relies on the ultimate. However, in the wake of all conventional appearances, only the ultimate exists in reality, and because it has no near or far for all appearances, it is pervasive of all, and because it is unchanging and free from the three stages of arising, ceasing, and abiding, it is also constant. That is the pervasive constancy of the profound ultimate. As it is said: Because of such vast deeds, the Buddha is definitely said to be pervasive, and because that nature is inexhaustible, it is also said to be constant. What is said like this is the pervasive constancy that is primarily conventional. Therefore, the essence shown by the various names of selflessness of phenomena is that, for the Tathagatagarbha, self-awareness, unchanging, all aspects, any suddenly appearing defilements, appearances, and proclaimed phenomena are not established, and this is its essence. Moreover, this is not established merely from the aspect of its non-establishment, but distinguished by non-establishment.

Taking the wisdom of awareness itself as the main point of meaning. Therefore, considering that the objects of negation, such as form, are merely empty of truly established objects of negation, and taking that as the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena, is a coarse conceptualization that is merely a slightly elevated conceptualization from the ordinary thoughts of worldly people in the direction of emptiness. Furthermore, considering that all phenomena of appearance and sound have never existed from the beginning, and although it is reasonable to say that if they are established, they must be established as existing, but if existence is not established, then considering non-existence as being established by its own nature is impossible in general, and thus considering being free from the elaborations of existence, non-existence, being, and non-being as the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena, although there is no error from that aspect alone, it is only understanding half of the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena. On top of that view, all those known as proponents of self-emptiness consider the ultimate realm to be no different from appearances and sounds, not truly established, and believe that the Sugata-garbha, which possesses qualities, is impossible in the knowable, and consider wisdom not to be the ultimate realm, but merely conventional, and say that these and the scriptures that teach them are provisional, thus slandering them, and they revile the great Bodhisattvas who clearly established the tenets of the Great Madhyamaka of Other-Emptiness. This is a very serious mistake, and due to the power of great sinful deeds, they go from bad rebirth to bad rebirth, completely controlled by demons and sinful friends. They repeatedly slander the profound Dharma and the holy ones, saying, "Although the two truths are distinguished, the great charioteers are ignorant." Thus, they are arrogant and boastful of their own great qualities, and after uttering unbearable reviling words against the holy ones, they say, "It is very difficult to find a human being, and the experience of mental training is very small, it is difficult to enter the solitary place of samsara, life is very fragile, it is difficult to find a good spiritual friend, and even if there is no faith, why should there be so much hatred?" Thus, they speak deceptive words like an expert, and although they say to others that it is difficult to obtain a human body, and that one should not generate hatred when encountering the profound Dharma, they immediately say, "For you who are filled with hatred, leisure and fortune seem far away." Thus, they utter harsh words of anger.
