TNT17 0011.A Brief Explanation of the Sutra on Recollecting the Three Jewels.g2.0f

English

It means that power cannot overcome. The detailed establishment of the power of the Tathagata's body, which is the self-nature of the Great Vehicle itself, is explained in detail in the Sutra of the Samadhi of the Collection of All Merits. Alternatively, those who believe with faith are those of dull faculties, who are made happy by the joy of the Dharma; "wisdom cannot be suppressed" refers to those of sharp faculties, who are made happy by obtaining the path of seeing, etc. There is no overcoming of the powers, because they possess the wisdom of the ten powers, which cannot be destroyed by any outsiders. The teacher of all sentient beings, the father of the Bodhisattvas, the king of the noble beings, the leader of those who go to the city of Nirvana. These four words show what the work of benefiting sentient beings is, that is, to show the path or cause of happiness to all sentient beings. For example, some beings in the lower realms, from the light emitted from the Buddha's body, pacify suffering, generate faith, and place them in the good realms; beings in the good realms are also placed in various good deeds such as generosity and discipline, and gradually ripen them in the three Bodhisattvas. Among these beings, those who have entered the vehicle are the main ones, that is, the latter three. Among them, "the father of the Bodhisattvas" refers to those who have the Buddha-nature in the Great Vehicle, the Bodhisattvas are born from the Buddha-dharma, and through body, speech, mind, and deeds, they are similar to the Buddha himself, therefore they are the sons of the Buddha, and the Tathagata is their father, the place from which they obtain their merits. "The noble beings" refers to the lineage of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, including Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, Hearer Arhats, and Solitary Buddhas, etc. Although they live by the Buddha-dharma, they have not yet reached the same state as the Tathagata, so they are like ordinary people, and the Buddha is their king. The leader of the merchants leads all the merchants forward, and is the leader. The city of Nirvana refers to the three vehicles, and for those who want to go there, it will not be

To lead, like a guide, the city is the place of dwelling, which is liberation. Immeasurable wisdom, inconceivable fearlessness, pure speech, melodious sound, a body that one never tires of looking at, a body without equal—these six phrases reveal the means of accomplishing the welfare of others. Among these, the activity of mind is: immeasurable wisdom, because knowing all sentient beings' realms, inclinations, faculties, and habitual tendencies, one engages in the time and means of benefiting beings without error. The activity of speech is: inconceivable fearlessness, wherein, relying on letters means relying on a single word, and expressing it with other different words, even if taught for immeasurable eons, it cannot be exhausted; relying on meaning means that in immeasurable eons, countless sentient beings ask about different meanings at the same time, and at the same time, different answers arise effortlessly, various languages answer them without confusion, and with just one language, one can answer countless different meanings, and with countless languages, one can also cause the wisdom of a single disciple to increase limitlessly. Therefore, fearlessness is teaching the Dharma, and inconceivability is the wonderfully amazing way of teaching. Speech is utterly pure, that is, free from the faults of speech, such as lying; free from the faults of sound, such as unpleasant sounds; free from the faults of action, such as causing displeasure, etc.; free from the faults of effort, such as being too fast, etc. Having abandoned all faults of speech, it is utterly pure, and from the aspect of the qualities of speech, the sound is melodious. According to the Hinayana, the sound has five branches, or according to the Mahayana, it has sixty branches, etc. The activity of body is: a body that one never tires of looking at, because the beauty of each part of the body, whether limb or subtle part, overwhelms all the beauty of the three realms, so one never tires of looking at it. A body without equal means: for all beings belonging to the three realms, six realms, and four modes of birth, what need is there to mention anything more excellent than the color and form of the body of the Bhagavan? Even an equal body cannot be found. Not stained by desires, not closely stained by forms, and those without form and

The three words "unmixed" show where the Bhagavan (the Blessed One) dwells. That is, he does not dwell in the three realms, but dwells in the realm of Dharma. When acting in the three realms, he is not defiled by the faults of the three realms. Among them, when doing sentient beings' affairs in the desire realm, he is not defiled by desire and harmful thoughts; when acting in the form and formless realms, he is not defiled by the faults of attachment, views, pride, and doubt in those meditations. That is to say, the desire and form realms are related to body and speech, so it can be compared to not being defiled by these. In the formless realm, there is no way to be defiled, so it is shown as "unmixed." In the formless realm, according to the rule of only formless things, it can be explained literally. Even according to the rule of having form, because they are very subtle, there is no contradiction in explaining it this way. The three words "completely liberated from the aggregates, not united with the elements, closing the sources of birth" show that when doing sentient beings' affairs, one is not attached to anything. Because the aggregates have the nature of repeated births, the Tathagata has no birth, so he is completely liberated from the aggregates. The elements are the door for consciousness to arise and grasp objects, because the afflictions that depend on objects and consciousness have been abandoned, so they are not united with the elements. The sources of birth are the door of the cause of arising from seeing and so on, because the afflictions that depend on it have been closed, so the sources of birth are closed. In short, ultimately, it is the body of wisdom that transcends the aggregates, elements, and sources of birth. Now it shows the way to do altruistic things with abandonment and wisdom: with the four words "cutting off knots from that, liberating from complete suffering, liberating from craving, crossing the river," it first shows what kind of abandonment is used to do sentient beings' affairs. If all afflictions are summarized, what meets the object is craving with the nature of knots, and what does not meet is the river with the nature of complete suffering. That is, because the knots are cut off, one is liberated from craving. Because one is liberated from complete suffering, one crosses the river.
