After that, the black practitioner proceeded northwards. Just as the sun was setting, in the middle of a pale white sandy plain, in a corner of a cliff, there was a wretched, dilapidated hut. As he approached it, he met a wicked woman coming to fetch water, and he asked to stay for the night. The woman went inside for a moment and then came out to call him in again. When the master entered the house, there was another woman there, and she asked where the yogi was going. The master told the story of what had happened before. Then she said, "This is also the place Pretapurī, and I am the Ḍākiṇī Kālava Bhadra." The master thought, 'This is probably not her.' So he went north again. As the sun was about to set, he returned to the same place as before. When he went inside again, he still returned to the same place where he had come this morning. Then the master prostrated to the Ḍākiṇī and said, "You have the glorious Śambūṭa union-bindu tantra in your hand. Master Jālandharipa sent me to take that tantra. Please also bestow the text of that tantra, and also give instructions and subsequent instructions." Then the dwelling also became a fine palace adorned with ornaments. The woman also became radiant with glory, adorned with all kinds of jewels, sitting on a golden throne. She handed over the text of the Śambūṭa Tantra, saying, "Jālandharipa will not want this, but give it for the sake of some fortunate ones." Here, the old Tibetans, such as Rawa and Lochungwa, say that she is the Ḍākiṇī Kālava Bhadra, which seems to be correct, because in some Indian texts, it is recorded that way in the lineage of gurus. She is considered to be an emanation of Vajravarahi and Nairātmyā, which is not contradictory in meaning. In the biography of Marpa, it is said that she is the Ḍākiṇī Dro-ba-zangmo, and it is said that Dro-ba-zangmo is a name of the Ḍākiṇī Guhyajnana. There is no contradiction in that either. In these historical accounts that happened in Tibet in the past, all empowerments, instructions, and subsequent instructions were bestowed, which means the respective rebirths.

Just like a teacher treats an ordinary student, constructing mandalas, accumulating empowerment substances, performing ritual recitations, practicing during the day, and protecting at night, reciting scriptures, explaining the words of the texts, teaching and instructing, not just giving transmissions. Rather, for that person, the black fortunate teacher, the emanation dakini Yeshe (ཡེ་ཤེས་, Wisdom), merely connected minds and blessed his mindstream, and in that instant, he attained special wisdom, completely understood the meaning of the tantras, and merely bestowed the appearance of instructions, he obtained the ability to widely accomplish the benefit of sentient beings, that itself is empowerment, is the unsurpassed oral instruction and subsequent oral instruction. As exemplified by this, in the biographies of the great accomplished ones of the past, the ways in which one after another transmitted oral instructions were mostly like that. However, in our Tibet, even with just this much understanding, it seems that one will fall into one of the two extremes. The foolish people, and the foolish followers, those who pretend to be clever, mostly because they have such a vague understanding of the accomplished ones, using this as an excuse, for the current lamas and ordinary students, those mediocre ones who have not even grasped the beginning of the path, also want to imitate and compete with the actions of the accomplished ones, cutting off all empowerments, tantra explanations, and oral instructions from the root, putting the scriptures on their heads, Thinking that it is enough to just connect minds, etc., for things they do not understand and cannot handle, they pretend and act tough. For those situations, the teacher has not explained, the student has not understood, and both teacher and student are ignorant, but they pretend to know, and this will not work, this is the extreme of nihilism. Also, those who value mantra texts and rituals, now excessively cover up everything for any beginner, and even do this to the noble ones, accomplished ones, and supreme practitioners, this is because they overemphasize rules and want to appear clever, resulting in the opposite effect, this is the extreme of eternalism related to this. Therefore, for beginners, there is a need for Dharma teachings with a reliable source of transmission and an unbroken lineage, a need for ritual practice that is proficient and without error, a need for recitations and practices etc. that reach the standard, a need for each person's textual explanations to resolve doubts, a need for mind connection that is appropriate, and if the oral instructions are put into practice, they must be effective.
