Having drunk what was given without offering, he immediately gained mastery over all objects of knowledge, became a great accomplished one who directly saw the nature of reality, and taught the Dharma. He gave this instruction to the great Paṇḍita Rātipagupta. He was born in southern India, his caste was that of a merchant's son. When he grew up, he became ordained in the Buddhist community, and it is said that he belonged to the Sarvāstivāda school. Because he was very intelligent, he memorized both the hundred thousand verses of the Vinaya and the hundred thousand verses of the Prajñāpāramitā. He was very skilled in the fields of knowledge of the outsiders. Wishing to seek the Dharma of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana, he went to many places in the east, the ocean islands, and the west. He received empowerment in thirteen mandalas from the great teacher Rinchen Drakpa. Again, from the great teacher Jñānagupta, he received empowerment in sixty mandalas in the land of Rakang. He received many empowerments and instructions from the Paṇḍita Dāśabala Lapingha in the land of Nepal. It is said that he also mostly asked these three teachers for explanations of the tantras. Once, in a large feast place in eastern India, there was a yogi with matted hair like a heretic, sitting there raggedly. After talking to him, he seemed to know the minds of others, and when asked who he was, he said he was the accomplished Asita Ghana. He served him there for about a month and heard many instructions. He also heard countless instructions from the accomplished Okoranatha. After that, he served as the abbot of about thirty monasteries in the southern regions of Rulurati and others. He gained stability in the generation stage. It is said that he knew about fifty tantras. In the story like the source of jewels, this is the eighth chapter about the story of the transmission of various instructions. All these transmissions of blessings belong to the great accomplished master Śāntipa. This teacher was born in the southern city of Jālamaṇḍala, which means circle of water. His caste was royal. From a young age, he studied many subtle subjects, including grammar and logic with its branches. His father was also a mantra practitioner who could see the face of the noble mother Tārā in his practice. He received the empowerment of Tārā and the methods of accomplishment from him.

Listen. At the age of twenty-two, in the land of Kongkuna by the sea, there was a place called Golden Banner, which at that time had good monastic discipline, a flourishing Dharma school, about fifty monks, and a large gathering of lay practitioners and above, numbering about a thousand. There, he received full ordination from Khenpo Ratigupta. First, he studied all the Vinaya Pitaka of the Shravaka school, and then mastered all the treatises of Madhyamaka and Cittamatra. He recited from memory the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita, as well as many scriptures such as the ones known as the Four Cittamatra Sutras. Wishing to offer to the Khenpo and gain great fame and wealth, he went to the island of Sinhala. There he slightly accomplished the vidya-mantra of Mahakala, and through teaching the Dharma, he gained immeasurable fame and wealth. He brought these to the guru and offered them as a great pile of the seven precious substances. He requested empowerments and instructions, and the guru bestowed all the common empowerments, and also gave explanations of about fifty tantras. However, he did not receive the uncommon empowerments and instructions. Then, for many years, he served the guru, even doing the work of sweeping ashes, and offered everything to the guru except for his own three robes and food. He obtained his own food by begging in the city. After six years in this way, the guru also bestowed the uncommon higher empowerments, as well as various blessings, and all the instructions. By practicing these, he also developed good experiences. There the Khenpo passed away, and he also became the owner of all the monasteries. He served as the abbot of the Sangha for nine years. During that time, he only meditated at night. However, he knew that the various Sangha activities during the day would not increase wisdom. So he repeatedly asked the Sangha for permission to leave, but the Sangha did not allow it, so the master drank alcohol. He sang songs in various languages in the streets of the city, and performed various dances at every door. The Sangha members said: The Khenpo is proficient in many Dharmas, so he will not punish you, now go wherever you can live comfortably. He thought that now everything was accomplished, and so he passed through various places. He arrived at the place of Tsiwa.
