Don't talk. If you do that, you will quickly attain accomplishment, he said. Then, while staying in the non-elaborate samadhi at Phullahari, once it became necessary to debate with the heretics. That was in a monastic community, where a learned heretic debater was debating. When they were unable to debate with him, an old woman said: There is someone named Glorious Fame Good (Gamyona). The monks searched and found him. They asked him to debate, and he thought it would benefit the Buddhist teachings. When he debated that day, he was slightly defeated in the debate. He thought: Why would a master of speech like me be defeated? He remembered the guru's instructions. After praying to the guru, he immediately won the debate. Tilopa appeared in the form of a terrifying beggar, holding a bleeding human head. Naropa prostrated to him. The heretic said: You Buddhists say you have compassion, but you prostrate to a rakshasa without compassion, you yourself have been defeated. Tilopa pointed threateningly at the heretic's temple, shouting "Defeated! Defeated!" and dancing. The temple collapsed. There, in both debate and power, Buddhism was victorious. Because he slightly violated the guru's instructions, he did not attain supreme accomplishment in that lifetime. It is said that he became a Buddha as soon as he passed away. This master mostly resided in Phullahari itself. Occasionally, he traveled to various places, giving empowerments, teaching tantras and instructions, subduing heretics with debates, and so on, performing many deeds of a wise person. Mainly, he benefited sentient beings by effortlessly accomplishing the twelve great deeds. He always saw the faces of all the yidam deities, and was a great accomplished one who had mastered common accomplishments. Among the disciples of this master were the omniscient Shantipa of the debating period, and other gatekeeper panditas, as well as many lords of the teachings such as Jowo Je Atisha. Among the uncommon disciples, there were four who were skilled in the father tantras and four who were skilled in the mother tantras, making a total of eight who held the lineage of teachings. The first four were: Black Fearless Vajra (Nāgpo Jigme Dorje), Pito Hadu, Jayakara, and Kashmiri Akarasiddhi. The latter four are:

Manaka Shra, Dharma Mati, Pham Tingpa Chenpo, Prajna Rakshita. All of them were masters of abilities. Some say that Pitwaha Du and Dharma Mati are the same person. Among the first four, some say that Jñana Garbha has passed away. The four disciples who attained accomplishment are: Glorious Supreme Dombipa, Riripa, Kandhapa, Kasoripa, all of whom attained accomplishment. These four, three, and twelve disciples are recorded according to the previous tradition in Tibet. Glorious Supreme Dombipa, initially a cowherd for many of the king's cows, was illiterate. He developed faith in a (teacher) residing in Naropa Monastery and repeatedly offered milk and butter. Then, the teacher Naropa also taught him a method for generating Bodhicitta, initiated him into the Hevajra mandala, and taught him a method of meditation. While he was meditating, he was once swept away by water and swallowed by a fish. Inside the fish's belly, he directly saw the Heruka mandala and emerged unharmed. Afterwards, he practiced renunciation of all worldly affairs in the presence of the teacher and meditated single-mindedly, attaining the supreme accomplishment. The light of his wisdom expanded on all the Dharma, especially all the Vajrayana. Because he also preached to many disciples, they attained accomplishment. There, he needed to compose many treatises, so he relearned writing and refuted the challenges of all the non-Buddhists and Buddhist panditas with Dharma discourses. His fame spread in all directions. Atisha was also his teacher. The Tibetans say that Jowo did not personally meet him, but in the "Unwavering Ultimate Meaning Accomplishment Practice" composed by Jowo, it is said that he personally heard it from Dombipa. Moreover, in the fourth chapter of that treatise composed by him, there also appears a commentary composed by Jowo, and there also appear words of personally obtaining those Dharmas. Moreover, he also seems to be meeting with Indian scholars. I have also personally seen the Sanskrit original of that commentary in the possession of the teacher Nirvana Shri. The teachings of the younger Dombipa were requested by the younger Kusala Bhadra. That teacher was born in a place called Mebar in western India. From a young age, he was proficient in many fields of knowledge. He requested ordination from a great non-Buddhist teacher.

That did not lead. Then, thinking that all these heretics must be refuted, he renounced at the feet of glorious Vajrāsana. He studied all the collections of scriptures with great expertise. Later, he disguised himself as a Brahmin and went to the land of Kamarupa. From about six heretical paṇḍitas and Brahmins, he expertly learned all the tenets of the heretics. He learned and accomplished the illusions of the land of Kamarupa, many mantras of the Vijayagiri tradition, many evil mantras of the ḍākinīs, and many kinds of mantras of Śyāṅga-rā. He went to the root of the heretical paṇḍitas who were formerly in the west. There was a king named Karṇa, who was kept as a witness. About two thousand Buddhist yogis and paṇḍitas gathered, and about eight thousand heretics gathered and debated. Because the teacher was wise and good and knew the heretics, he refuted them all one by one. There they competed in miracles. When a heretical yogi seemed to have brought down two stars from the sky to the ground, it is said that there were two black things shaped like human heads, as big as houses. The teacher knew that it was an illusion of the eyes, and recited the mantra to destroy it. The two things turned into two lumps of coal. Everyone understood it as an illusion. Some heretics showed flames burning on their bodies, etc. There, by pouring water, the fire was extinguished, etc., and they were refuted one by one, saying that everything was destroying illusion with illusion. Finally, the teacher recited a mantra and turned the four chief heretics into cats. With the mantra of Śyāṅga-rā, all the household utensils of all the heretics gathered there were turned into earth and stones. There the heretics were defeated, and for a while Buddhism flourished greatly in that land. It is said that there are still many now. There the teacher thought: These are not real illusions of mine. Because deceiving people's minds with various mantras is a great fault, and all that I have heard and thought in the past has become the slave of attachment and aversion, now I must abandon everything. Thinking this, he became a yogi of Cāryapa and continued to practice. After that, he met the teacher glorious supreme Ḍombipa. He requested empowerment in the mandala of Bliss and Joy (Bde-dgyes), and also obtained all the instructions. Likewise, upward.
