It was made entirely of gold, and that gold alone was enough to cover the living expenses of five hundred monks and five hundred lay practitioners. That lay practitioner supported the foundation of the temple himself until he died. When he passed away, he said: This gold will not benefit others for the time being, but it will benefit sentient beings in the future, and then he hid the gold as a treasure. He entrusted the foundation of the temple to King Devapala. This is the twenty-eighth story about the time of King Gopala. Regarding King Devapala, some believe that he was the son of a Naga. But I think that since he inherited the blessings of the mantra transmitted from King Gopala, he was the son of King Gopala. However, there is a legend that a minor consort of King Gopala asked a Brahmin mantra practitioner for a method to control the king. That Brahmin took medicine from the Snowy Mountains (Himalayas) and blessed it with mantras. He mixed the medicine with food and prepared it to be given to the king. The consort gave the medicine to a maid, instructing her to take it to the king, but the maid rested by a river and accidentally dropped the medicine into the water. The medicine was carried away by the water and reached the place where the Nagas lived. The Naga king, named Ocean Protector (Samudra-raksha), swallowed the medicine and was thus controlled. He came to the consort in the form of the king, and the consort became pregnant. When the king discovered this and prepared to punish her, the consort said: The one who came this time was the king himself. After hearing this, the king said that he would investigate again. Later, the consort gave birth to a boy, and during a sacrificial ceremony, a snake came out of a cave. It saw that the boy was wearing a ring on his hand with Naga script on it, so it knew that he was the son of the Naga king and raised him. After King Gopala passed away, he was enthroned as king. His rule was more powerful than the previous king, and the eastern Varendra region was also brought under his rule. He wanted to build a particularly excellent temple, so he built Somapuri. According to most Tibetan historical records, the diviners said: Take seedlings from the clothes of monks and Brahmins, take butter from the homes of kings and merchants, take a container from the dwelling of ascetics, light a butter lamp, place it in front of the yidam and pray, and wherever the emanation of the Dharma protector moves the container, build a temple there, and the king's rule will become even more powerful, and all regions will be auspicious.

After doing that, a crow came. After sending it to Kongbu Lake and feeling disappointed, the dragon king with five snake heads appeared at night, saying, "I am your father, drain the lake and build a wall. Make a great offering every seven days." So it was done, and after twenty-one days the lake dried up. It is said that a temple was built there. In the history of building a temple that hid the great sea of Kache, a black man appeared in a dream, saying, "Make offerings to the Great Black One. The yakshas will drain the lake." Apart from that, things happened just like that. It doesn't matter if that history is connected to Somapuri. Similarly, the history of the birth of Deva Pala also seems similar to the history of spontaneous play, so it is necessary to examine whether it is a statement that imitates each other. The well-known Somapuri is also known as the new Somapuri. A yogi named Siromani persuaded that king, saying, "These places such as Oti Bisha were previously Buddhist places, but now only heretics are prevalent, so we must fight." So he gathered a large army. When leaving from his nearby area, he saw a black man walking slowly from afar. He sent someone to ask who he was, and he said, "I am the Great Black One. Dig up this sand pile, and there is a temple below. If you want to destroy the heretical temples, you don't need to do anything else, just surround the temple with troops and play great music." After digging up the sand pile, a wonderful stone temple appeared. It was named the Auspicious Three Heat Temple. In some histories, a meditating monk came out from there and asked about the Buddha Kashyapa and King Kiki. He said, "This is the teaching of Buddha Shakyamuni." After showing many miracles, he passed into nirvana. After that, according to the instructions, he did to the heretical temples, and all the temples collapsed by themselves. In general, there are about forty large strongholds of heretics, some in Bengal and Varendra. After that, all of Odo Bisha was brought under rule. During the reign of this king, practitioners of the Black Conduct school rarely appeared.
