Thinking of entrusting both, (the Buddha) instructed, "After my Nirvana, may you protect the Dharma." The four also gladly agreed. Dhritarashtra protects from the east, Virudhaka from the south, Virupaksha from the west, and the son of Vaishravana protects from the north. Then, all the activities of the Dharma were entrusted to the great venerable Kashyapa, and Ananda was also admonished, "You must also strive to do the activities of the Dharma." In this way, the sage Kana's son saw and heard, and with great faith listened to the Dharma, and he also attained the fruit of non-return. After that, Kana's son made preparations in the evening to offer alms to the Blessed One and his retinue the next day. At that time, his sister's son, named the sage Mountain Rock, also came and happened to meet him, and asked, "Are you inviting friends as guests?" He replied, "No, we are inviting the Buddha and the Sangha." There, just hearing the sound of the Buddha, he felt his hair stand on end, and asked, "What are the Buddha and the Sangha like?" He also explained in detail. After that, the teacher and the Sangha arrived there, and Mountain Rock and his five hundred attendants were very devoted and took ordination and full ordination. Kana's son saw that and asked, "Have you taken ordination?" He replied, "I have taken ordination." There, Kana's son also finished collecting alms, and gave away all the remaining items, and together with his five hundred attendants took ordination and full ordination, and the teacher, together with the thousand who had taken ordination from the sage, agreed to stay in retreat on the banks of the river called Extremely Good. There, five hundred monks were entrusted to the venerable Maha-Kapina, two hundred and fifty were entrusted to the son of Maudgalyayana, and two hundred and fifty were entrusted to Shariputra. They taught the key instructions, and those of Kapina attained the Arhat fruit, those of the son of Maudgalyayana attained the non-returner fruit, and those of Shariputra attained the stream-enterer fruit. This is also the difference between sharp and dull faculties, those with dull faculties were guided by Shariputra and attained the stream-enterer fruit,

It is said that if one is cared for by others like a lute, one will not even get warmth. The eighty-fourth story is about subduing Sor Treng Chen (the garland-wearing heretic): Again, in Nyen Yod (Shravasti), there was a Brahman boy named Mi Dungwa, who was very tall and strong, capable of withstanding thousands of people. He could even catch birds flying in the sky by jumping, and he had the speed of a fine horse. There was a Brahman teacher with five hundred students, teaching them the Vedas and various sciences, which they quickly mastered. Then, on that occasion, the Brahman teacher and his entourage were invited to a benefactor's house for three months, while the boy Mi Dungwa was left at home to take care of the household. There, the teacher's wife tried to seduce the boy, but he, being mindful and wise, and fearing sin, did not accept her advances. The woman held a grudge and, before the Brahman teacher returned, she lay on a netted bed, wearing tattered clothes, and making wounds on her body. When the Brahman came and asked what had happened, she falsely said that Mi Dungwa had done this. The Brahman thought, "This is the great son of a minister, capable of resisting a thousand men, so I cannot directly oppose him. I must find a way for him to die." So the Brahman pretended to be happy with Mi Dungwa and said, "In a short time, I will show you a secret Dharma that I have never shown to anyone before. You must cut off the heads of a thousand people in seven days and nights, and take each finger to make a garland and wear it on your body. Then you will see the Brahma god directly and become a Brahma god immediately after death." Knowing that this was not reasonable, Mi Dungwa initially refused once or twice. The teacher scolded him, saying, "It seems you do not believe me," and then he stuck a sword into the ground that had been enchanted with a madness-inducing mantra. The boy Mi Dungwa became extremely angry. He took the sword and ran outside the door, killing nine people he encountered, and then killed nine hundred and ninety-nine people, making a garland of fingers. Thus, for seven days without food, he wandered around. The boy's mother heard of this, but no one dared to go near him.
