那些（神）用风吹干了有毒的水。降雨之神降下雨水，使之充满八支功德水。滋养了鲜花和果树。四大天王等神使住所和用具丰盛，那些也是受帝释天的命令所驱使。之后，吉祥者们派出了侦察者，看到道路的财富非常兴盛，然后返回，对吉祥者们说。外道们说：乔达摩即使是无心的，也能如此转变，你们难道不能改变吗？现在我们走了。那些人说：请留步。那么必须立誓，你们谁也不去乔达摩那里。如果谁去，就处以六十帕纳的罚款，然后留下。当地人也这样制定了法律。那时，世尊住在吉祥城南方的处所。有一个从释迦嫁到吉祥城做新娘的女孩，她在晚上从围墙边观看，看到佛陀住在黑暗中，心想如果这围墙有个梯子，就可以去供奉灯了。佛陀的神通使围墙，也就是铁墙外显现出梯子。她就走过去，在佛前供奉了灯。听法后，见到了真谛。佛陀对她说：你到家主羊那里去，祝他无病。告诉他，我为了你来到这里，你为什么关着门呢？如果他说已经制定了法律，就说：你儿子的腰里能生出无尽的百千帕纳，难道不能拿出六十个来吗？女孩听后，返回，这样说了。家主羊心想：这是全知者啊！于是把六十帕纳放在门边，从先前幻化的梯子上下来，走到佛前听法，见到了真谛。家主羊问道：吉祥城的所有人都能得到这样的佛法吗？佛陀回答说：大多数人都能得到。他心想：那么就应该利益城市的所有人。

Those (gods) dried up the poisonous water with wind. The rain-bringing gods sent down rain, filling it with water possessing eight qualities. The trees of flowers and fruits were nourished. The gods of the Four Great Kings and others made the dwellings and utensils abundant, and those were also urged by the command of Indra. Then, the auspicious ones sent out scouts, and seeing the wealth of the roads very prosperous, they returned and said to the auspicious ones. The heretics said: Gautama, even without intention, can transform like this, can't you change? Now we are leaving. Those people said: Please stay. Then you must make a vow that none of you will go to Gautama. If anyone goes, they will be fined sixty panas, and then stay. The locals also made such a law. At that time, the Blessed One was staying in the southern place of the city of Bhadra. There was a girl who was sent as a bride from Serkya to Bhadra, and she looked from the fence at night and saw the Buddha staying in the darkness, thinking that if there was a ladder on this fence, she would go to offer a lamp. The Buddha's miraculous power made a ladder appear outside the fence, that is, the iron wall. She went and offered a lamp before the Buddha. By listening to the Dharma, she saw the truth. The Buddha said to her: Go to the householder Sheep and wish him to be free from illness. Tell him, I came here for you, why are you closing the door? If he says that a law has been made, say: Your son's waist can produce endless hundreds of thousands of panas, can't you give sixty and come? The girl listened and returned, saying so. The householder Sheep thought: This is the all-knowing one! So he put sixty panas at the door, came down from the previously manifested ladder, went before the Buddha and listened to the Dharma, and saw the truth. The householder Sheep asked: Will all the people of Bhadra also receive such Dharma? The Buddha replied: Most will receive it. He thought: Then I should benefit all the people of the city.

心想，趁天未亮就返回城中。第二天早上天亮时，在基多（地名）堆积如山的金币，并宣告说：“谁想见世尊，我将衡量他所需要的惩罚。”众人皆说：“善哉！善哉！大众的法律被破坏，有什么不对？”都跑了过去。外道们也守着门，互相拥挤无法通行。金刚手（藏文：ལག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།，梵文天城体：वज्रपाणि，梵文罗马拟音：Vajrapāṇi，汉语字面意思：手持金刚者）用金刚杵击打铁墙，将其击破。在那里，所有的人都毫无阻碍地进去了，世尊的身体周围一由旬（距离单位）内都挤满了人。世尊长时间地宣讲了极其深奥广大的佛法，使人们获得了四种果位，发起了无数的三种菩提心，并将所有人都安置于皈依和受持学处。第四十九，调伏具财富者：世尊又住在王舍城（古印度摩揭陀国都城，今比哈尔邦巴特那附近）。当时，之前那个名叫火生的男孩的妹妹的丈夫，名叫具财富者，是一个裸体外道的居士。 在那里，火生对具财富者说：“你应该供养僧团，这会成为你的福德。”具财富者说：“你也应该供养所有的裸体外道。”为了不成为他行善的障碍，火生答应了。当他去请求裸体外道时，裸体外道心想：“这个人厌恶乔达摩（释迦牟尼佛），相信我。”于是答应了。第二天，当裸体外道带着眷属出发时，具财富者对裸体外道说：“乔达摩去各家乞食时，当他踏上门槛时会微笑，有听闻者会问他原因，然后乔达摩也会做出预言，用这种方式使居士们产生信仰。你也应该这样做。”之后，裸体外道来到火生的家中，当他把脚放在门槛上时，就大笑起来。一个裸体外道问他原因，他说：“在离车河（Vaisali附近的河流）边生长的一棵树上，住着一只猴子，它爱上了一只母猴，并追逐她。母猴逃跑并掉进河里，那只猴子也跳进河里淹死了。我想到这件事就想笑。”

Thinking so, he returned to the city before dawn. The next morning, at dawn, he piled up a huge heap of gold coins in the main square and announced, "Whoever wants to see the Blessed One, I will measure out whatever punishment is needed." All the people said, "Excellent! Excellent! What is wrong with destroying the laws of the assembly?" and rushed over. The heretics also guarded the gate, and they were unable to pass through due to the mutual crowding. Vajrapani (Tibetan: ལག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रपाणि, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajrapāṇi, Literal Chinese Meaning: One who holds the vajra in his hand) struck the iron wall with a vajra and broke it open. There, all the people went in without hindrance, and the vicinity of the Blessed One's body, for a yojana (unit of distance), was filled with people. The Blessed One taught the Dharma, which was extremely profound and vast, for a long time, and people attained the four fruits, generated immeasurable bodhicitta in the three enlightenments, and placed all of them in taking refuge and upholding the basis of training. Forty-ninth, Taming the Wealthy One: The Blessed One was again residing in Rajagriha (capital of the ancient Magadha kingdom, near Patna, Bihar today). At that time, the husband of the sister of the former boy named Fire-born, named Wealthy One, was a naked ascetic's lay follower. There, Fire-born said to Wealthy One, "You should offer to the Sangha, it will become your merit." Wealthy One said, "You should also offer to all the naked ascetics." In order not to become an obstacle to his doing good, Fire-born agreed. When he went to request the naked ascetics, the naked ascetics thought, "This person dislikes Gautama (Shakyamuni Buddha) and believes in me." So he agreed. The next day, when the naked ascetic set out with his retinue, Wealthy One said to the naked ascetic, "When Gautama goes to beg in each house, he smiles when he steps on the threshold. A listener will ask him the reason, and then Gautama will also make a prediction, and in this way he makes the householders have faith. You should also do the same." After that, the naked ascetic arrived at Fire-born's house, and when he put his foot on the threshold, he laughed loudly. One naked ascetic asked him the reason, and he said, "On a tree growing on the bank of the Vaisali River (river near Vaisali), there lived a monkey who fell in love with a female monkey and chased her. The female monkey ran away and fell into the river, and that monkey also jumped into the river and drowned. I laugh when I think about this."
