We said, "We will do it." One beat the drum, one drew the bow, and they walked before the Teacher (Buddha). After a while, the Teacher (Buddha) said, "Two boys, turn back, I have no fear of lions." The two also bowed at the feet and turned back. Then, the Blessed One smiled, emitted rays of light, performed two deeds, and the light disappeared into the urna. Ananda asked the reason for this, and the Buddha prophesied, "These two boys will become Pratyekabuddhas named 'Drum Sound' and 'Fearless' thirteen kalpas from now." That night, in the clearing of the forest, everyone settled down to rest. Nanda, Upananda, Javasena, Tishya, Adhimukta, and Kalandaka, the group of six, found a place near a hollow dry tree to stay. They lit a fire, and there was a poisonous snake in the hollow tree, bothered by the smoke, it came out from the hole in the branch above, hanging and swaying. The group of six shouted loudly, "Something is coming!" People thought a lion had come and ran away in fear. The Teacher (Buddha) said to Ananda, "Turn back!" So everyone calmed down. The next morning, the Teacher (Buddha) said to the people, "Even though you are many, do not go ahead. The Tathagata goes before everyone." Having said this, he walked ahead of everyone. Then, a lion with a mane, roaring and agitated, ran towards the Teacher (Buddha). The Teacher (Buddha) conjured five lions with manes from the palm of his right hand, and those lions ran away as soon as they smelled the scent. The Teacher (Buddha) then conjured flames burning in all four directions, and the lion had nowhere to escape, so it turned back again, knowing that peace could only be found at the feet of the Teacher (Buddha), and prostrated itself at his feet. The Teacher (Buddha) stroked the lion's head with his right hand and said, "You were born as an animal due to your past misdeeds, and now you still take the lives of other beings, what will become of you in the future? Have faith in me!" The monks reached out to touch the lion, and the lion made a sound. The Buddha said, "Lions are difficult to approach, do not touch it." Then, the Teacher (Buddha) taught the lion the Dharma of impermanence and so on, and the lion happily died without eating, and was reborn as a god of the Four Great Kings lineage, and

When they came before and made prostrations and offerings, the Blessed One taught the Dharma, and they attained the stream-entry. My sixth birth was as a sage named Shedbu Serkya Nyarkyepa. The Blessed One was residing in the tiered house by the Monkey Pool in Vaishali. At that time, five hundred fishermen had two large fishing nets called 'Enjoyment' and 'Small Enjoyment' in the delightful river, which they used in turns. Once, knowing that a festival was coming and many people would be buying fish, they set both nets at the same time. The smaller one caught fish, turtles, and other creatures, amounting to a pile of seeds. The larger one caught a type of crocodile fish that had come from the ocean and was asleep. When they pulled it from the net, it awoke and dragged away three hundred and fifty people. Those people helped each other to resist, and another two hundred and fifty fishermen also pulled, but they could not subdue it. They also helped each other, and hundreds and thousands of people helped to pull, so that the net broke and the fish was brought to the shore. That crocodile fish had eighteen heads: elephant, horse, camel, donkey, cow, monkey, lion, tiger, bear, badger, raccoon, cat, goat, sheep, deer, buffalo, pig, and dog heads, with thirty-six eyes. There, many people, including non-Buddhists, came to watch. Then, the Teacher smiled, and the rays of light dissolved into the navel. Ananda asked for the reason. The Blessed One said, "Now I will go to the riverbank, monks, put on your Dharma robes." Having spoken, the Teacher went with his retinue in that direction. Those without faith slandered, but most thought that there was a special meaning. The Sage, possessing the intention of being free from spectacle, does not enjoy spectacle, and evil people speak meaningless words. The Victorious One, who is devoted to benefiting others, will surely go there for the benefit of sentient beings. They proclaimed thus. Then, a seat was arranged in that direction, and the Buddha sat down. The Buddha said to the five hundred fishermen, "Release these creatures that you have taken from the water." They also released those creatures into the water. That crocodile fish could speak human language and was blessed to remember its past life, and then questions and answers were made. The Teacher asked, "Are you a sage?" The fish replied, "I am a sage." Similarly,
