When I ride in a chariot, or hold the reins, or decorate my hair, please allow me to prostrate. After requesting this, the Buddha thought that this person was still arrogant. In order to eliminate his arrogance, the Buddha taught him the Dharma, and the Brahmin Padmacitta attained the fruit of entering the stream and also specially spoke verses. They and other like-minded Brahmins and people, countless numbers were placed in the truth, and they were made to devote themselves to the three Bodhis. The forty-ninth story is about two children: At another time, two beggar children of different castes (kingly caste and Brahmin caste) went to the Sangha to receive alms. The Brahmin's child received nothing because he went at the wrong time. The kingly caste child received a lot because he went at the right time. The Brahmin's child was very angry with the Sangha and said, "If I had the power, I would cut off the heads of these people from the root!" The kingly caste child said, "If I had the power, I would offer the Buddha and the Sangha a hundred flavors of delicious food!" In Shravasti, the Brahmin's child was sleeping under a tree when a runaway chariot wheel cut off his head. The Buddha said, "All dharmas are preceded by mind, mind is chief, mind-made are they. If one speaks or acts with a defiled mind, suffering follows him as the wheel follows the hoof of the ox." At that time, a merchant died without a son. The merchants discussed and decided to find a meritorious person to be honored as the leader of the merchants. They found the previous kingly caste child sleeping under a tree, and the shadows of the other trees had moved, but the shadow of that tree had not moved. They realized that he was meritorious, so they held a grand enthronement ceremony for him, making him the great leader of the merchants, possessing endless wealth. He provided food for the Buddha and the Sangha, and the Buddha taught him the Dharma, and he realized the truth. The fiftieth story is about subduing the Naga King Nanda and Upananda: At that time, the Naga Kings Nanda and Upananda, their bodies were long and they were able to wrap Mount Sumeru three times with their serpent bodies. When they slept and woke up for a long time, the strong breath they exhaled blew Mount Sumeru and the Golden Mountain.

Many creatures such as birds and deer died from poisoning and fell into the sea to be eaten. Monks who had attained supernatural powers and were dwelling on the ledges of Mount Meru, and those meditating in contemplation, were also struck by the poisonous breath, causing their bodies to become emaciated and their complexions pale. Then, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Maudgalyāyana's son: "Go and subdue the two dragon kings Nanda and Upananda." Then, the venerable Maudgalyāyana's son went there by means of his supernatural power, and when the two were asleep, he made the sound of a bell. But the two did not wake up. Even when they stepped on each other's bodies, they did not wake up. He entered their bellies, moved up and down, came out of their nostrils, rose into the sky, and descended again, but still they did not wake up. Then, he transformed himself into a huge, extremely terrifying serpent capable of coiling around Mount Meru seven times, and when he pressed down on the two of them, they woke up and saw that they were being pressed down by an extremely terrifying dragon. They were very frightened and fled in the form of Brahmins. As they fled as if approaching the surrounding mountains, the venerable Maudgalyāyana's son appeared in his real body before them and asked: "Where are you dragons going?" The two dragons thought: "This must be the power of this monk. Shouldn't we make fun of the venerable one? Shouldn't we consider the messenger of the teacher?" Then what should we do? There, he preached the Dharma that would lead to faith, and then led them to the presence of the Bhagavan. The Teacher also went to the seashore and sat down. The dragon kings Nanda and Upananda and their retinues made offerings with many offerings, prostrated at his feet, and sat to one side. The Bhagavan severely rebuked their evil deeds and taught the Dharma. He instructed them not to harm those dwelling on the ledges of Mount Meru, and established them in refuge and the basis of training. Thus, from the time that Nanda and Upananda were established in the Dharma, not long after, hundreds of thousands of dragon beings also took to the Dharma. I, the only Clear King, am the one who protects from the harm of the nagas: Then, those two nagas at auspicious times to the mountain
