When asked what kind of music he saw, he said, "I was afraid of being killed, so I didn't see anything." Then the Holy One said, "If one is so careful just because of the fear of suffering in this one life, what need is there to mention that monks constantly guard their mindfulness out of fear of suffering in countless lifetimes?" After that, the king became even more faithful and greatly offered to the Holy One and his retinue, and asked, "Is there any other offering like this offering to the Holy One?" The Holy One said, "This is not so amazing. A girl has no other possessions. She sold her hair for five hundred 'panas' and was thus satisfied." The king thought that having hair worth five hundred 'panas' was rare even among the gods, so he sent people to beg for those who lived on sour porridge, and with great wealth, he took that Brahmin girl with hair as his queen, and gave five hundred hidden ornaments and other things to the Brahmin mother as well. When the haired woman arrived in the Holy Land, the remnants of the plague quickly subsided, so she was named Queen 'Ba'. The story interspersed here is: Although not immediately following, at another time long after that, the king also killed many heretics, and like offering feasts to many Brahmins, he made a prior agreement that behind each Brahmin sat an executioner, and when it was said, 'Bring a bowl of sour porridge,' everyone was beheaded and killed at the same time. That night, in the king's dream, he heard: 'Sixty thousand years, six hundred centuries, beings are tormented in hell, when will it end?' and so on, six sounds of the earth goddess, and 'Only a little essence remains, all has been dug out, the Rakshasa king does not like the essence, and has given up hope,' and so on, six sounds of the sky. He dreamed that his body was smeared with white sandalwood, sprinkled with red powder, flames were burning on his head, a snake was hanging from each armpit, a sea fish was licking each of his legs, two swans were flying into the sky, a black mountain was coming from the front, and impure things were scattered on the heads of seagulls, making a total of eight dream omens. The next day,

Then, upon inquiring with the Brahmins, they knew it was a good omen, but thought, "We must interpret it as something bad." So they said that one must bathe in the blood of killing the five supreme ones, and so on. The king was displeased by this, and at the urging of Śibhi, he asked Kātyāyana. Kātyāyana reassured him, saying, "It is a good dream, do not be afraid." Then he explained, "The six sounds of the earth are: Your Majesty, for about six generations your ancestors ruled the kingdom by mixing Dharma and non-Dharma, so those who were born in hell, experiencing suffering, regretted their past actions and uttered those sounds. The first of the six sounds of the sky is: Most of the pillars of your house, except for the core, have been eaten by insects, so replace the pillars. The second is that the horseman took all the crow's eggs after marrying, so do not allow anyone to destroy nests in the future. The third is that the water in the garden pond has dried up, and the water birds are sad, so fill the pond with water. The fourth is that a young elephant was captured from Mount Tumden, and it misses its blind parents, not eating grass or drinking water, and wailing, so release it. The fifth is that a deer you captured is lamenting, missing its mate, so release it as well. The sixth is that a swan you captured is saddened by seeing other swans flying away, so release it as well. The first of the eight dream omens is: The king of Lus-'phags will send you a large piece of cloth as a gift; the second is that the king of Sa-'dzin will send you a precious red garment; the third is that the king of Yavana will send you a golden necklace; the fourth is that the king of China will send you a pair of swords; the fifth is that the king of Siṃhala will send you a pair of jeweled shoes; the sixth is that the king of Vāgala will send you two horses; the seventh is that the king of Kāliṅga will send you a chief elephant as a gift. These gifts will arrive within seven days. The eighth dream omen is known only to you and Śibhi." Then he said, "However, do not harbor ill will towards the Brahmins." The king, hearing these words, was overjoyed as if he had regained his life, and did as Kātyāyana had said. Within seven days, the gifts also arrived. The king was very faithful and offered the first gift, the large piece of cloth sent by the king of Lus-'phags, to Kātyāyana. As for the other five supreme ones,
