That all adds up to sixteen. If the student has an experience arising, then explain the recognition of these in detail, and introduce what clear light has arisen in him. If the student has not had an experience arising, and for a group of various gatherings, it is enough to just explain the names of the sixteen divisions. Thus, these five practices of mixing, ultimate, and subsequent practices, although they are collected in the section on clear light within the six dharmas, in reality, they are known to be the subsequent practices that follow after having practiced the instructions on tummo, illusory body, dream, and clear light. Although there are many important points for practice in these subsequent practices, because they are instructions to be gradually meditated on later, do not make them into immediate contemplation points now. Combine them with how much or how little Dharma practice is done. Thus, these are also called the four root dharmas, and are also called mixing illusory body. Regarding mixing and transference, in the various instructions of Marpa Lotsawa, there are many different ways of mixing, but these are not explained here. According to the system of this instruction itself, there are the four mixings such as the mixing of clear emptiness mentioned above, and also the mixing transference of four wisdoms or three wisdoms. Among these, the three wisdoms are: the wisdom of mistaken knowledge, the wisdom of conventional knowledge, and the wisdom of ultimate knowledge. That is to say, if we take the great bliss attained by a special method as a prerequisite, when bliss arises for the first time, there is also a mind of contaminated attachment, which is the mistaken knowledge. In itself, bliss arises in the mind like an illusion, which is the conventional knowledge, so the mistaken knowledge is mixed with the wisdom of conventional knowledge. It also arises effortlessly in the realm of reality, which is the ultimate knowledge, so the conventional knowledge is mixed with the wisdom of ultimate knowledge. When the realm of reality arises on top of everything that arises, recognizing that is mixing wisdom with whatever appears. To illustrate this, the appearance of waking time, just arising like a haze, is the mistaken knowledge; it arising like an illusion is the conventional knowledge; the natural flow of being free from grasping at illusion is the ultimate knowledge; applying that on top of whatever arises is the mixing of wisdom with whatever appears. Also, just the arising of a dream is the mistaken knowledge; that is a dream.
