The extensive explanations and those that say it is not from the Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, and some who say there is no Buddha, etc., are called provisional, definitive, and ultimately definitive by the wise who understand the key points. Among these, the nature of all dharmas, emptiness, free from all elaborations, the characteristic of being naturally completely pure, is the Svābhāvikakāya (Essence Body); and the wisdom that sees in this way, having the characteristic of sudden purity, is the Dharmakāya (Truth Body). These two are also abandonment and realization in sequence, and are also object and subject, so they are combined and called Dharmakāya. Regarding this, the Uttaratantra states: Unconditioned, indivisible, not inverted, purified of obscurations, and naturally luminous, possessing these five characteristics. These latter two bodies are divided into two each: the body of appearance and the body of abiding. Our own system has already been explained elsewhere, so it should be understood there. If one speaks without distinguishing between the actual state and the appearance of imputation, it is easier to understand. The Sambhogakāya (Enjoyment Body) is: adorned with all marks and signs, appearing like a reflection in a mirror, but in a way that is without inherent existence, appearing to the ten bhūmi Bodhisattvas, and becoming the support of the Dharmakāya. This is the self-appearance of wisdom, so the appearances from the eye to the body are not from the eye-sphere to the body-sphere, and since continuous permanence is impossible for what is limited, it is beyond what is limited. From the Śrī Jñānasiddhi of the feet of Indrabhūti: If you want a body that is not wisdom, then the body is of the nature of destruction, so wisdom should also be included there. As it is said: If the wisdom of the Buddhas is said to have a body and limbs, then when they pass into nirvāṇa, it also perishes, because the body is of the nature of destruction, wisdom will also perish. Therefore, the wisdom body of the Buddhas is not understood to be destroyed. As it is said, if the support changes, then the supported should also change, but since wisdom is not changeable, the body also does not change. For conditioned phenomena, it is impossible not to change, so it is said that that body itself is wisdom. The two, encompassed by the self-appearance of the Buddha and the appearance of the Bodhisattva, are established. Among them, the place is definitely Akanishta, and the essence is definitely adorned with marks and signs.
