Abandoning the mind of bodhichitta, either due to laziness in benefiting sentient beings, or because evil friends praise the qualities of the Lesser Vehicle, or because of excessive attachment to the pleasures of samsara, abandoning the very desire to attain Buddhahood, this too, like the previous time limit, will ultimately lead to downfall. In the Kalachakra, it is said that abandoning the kunda bodhichitta is the fifth root downfall. Regarding this, there are some well-known extensive commentaries on the root downfalls, and many early Tibetan Kalachakra practitioners deliberately abandoned the kunda bodhichitta, saying that this root downfall would occur. To this, Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen said, "If that were the case, then for householder vajra-holders with children and beginners, it would be impossible not to commit this root downfall, which would be a fault. Merely abandoning the bindu is not fulfilling the samaya of what is to be accomplished by wisdom and knowledge. The fourteen root downfalls must be protected even in common empowerments, so that is not good." This is not a negation of the Kalachakra tantras and commentaries, but a negation of the fact that Tibetans have not truly understood the meaning of the tantras. To this, later Kalachakra proponents have not given a good answer either. Some think that this is a negation of the tantras. Some think that, like in the case of secret empowerment, accepting and continuing the lineage with altruistic intentions, although it may slightly harm the attainment of one's own unchanging bliss, it will not become a root downfall because it is generally accepted with good intentions. Others think that the bliss of Jetsun Wangpo's two births is the only thing, so they take the side of householders, which is a sectarian fault. Still others, misunderstanding the words of the commentary, think that bodhichitta is the bliss-wisdom that falls outward, so if one abandons the bindu, this downfall will occur. Therefore, my own view is that if one abandons the bindu out of disrespect for the path of non-leakage, then according to the Kalachakra view, this root downfall will occur, and that is how one should answer. Merely saying that there is no fault in secret empowerment, samaya substances, elixirs, and being seized by supreme intention for the benefit of the lineage, cannot refute the prohibition of householder vajra-holders, because that is how it is.

Moreover, this classification is also a classification for those who are somewhat accustomed to yoga. Furthermore, what (you) said, "Desiring Buddhahood with the bliss of the twice-born," is very inconsistent with (the actual situation), because it is taken by the good intention of desiring to attain Buddhahood, it must be faultless in your school. As for the venerable one's "The bliss of the twice-born is considered the path to liberation," etc., this completely does not point out the answer to the debate, but only shirks responsibility. In general, (I) certainly admit that it becomes the cause of suchness, but never consider it to be the suchness of ultimate truth. Because (it is said in the scripture): 'Because great bliss arises, therefore happiness is not suchness.' This statement is considered definitive. Moreover, it can be understood by examining the treatises written by himself. Later authors also did not explain the intention of the tantra well, saying, "For those who desire Buddhahood from the bliss of the twice-born, this downfall often occurs." The Great Commentary says: 'Here, bodhicitta is semen, and if it disappears, it will not become irreversible bliss. Therefore, if there is no suchness, those who desire Buddhahood with the bliss of the twice-born will commit the fifth root downfall.' Therefore, (the scripture) says, "For those who desire Buddhahood with the bliss of the twice-born without suchness, this downfall often occurs," rather than saying that it must be a part of that (downfall). Because if (it is) the bliss of the twice-born without suchness, then semen must fall, so it is not pervasive. Considering it to be a part of the motivation for that (downfall) does not seem to be related. On the other hand, actions motivated by arrogance mostly seem to be weak. But in your school, the situation is exactly the opposite. Without the arrogance of considering it to be the path, the loss of semen does not become a root downfall, while those who consider it to be the path have already committed a root downfall. The former people also seem to identify the twice-born who consider the bliss of the twice-born to be suchness as the loss of semen, which is very crude. The bliss of the twice-born is all the wisdom of action mudra, and if you think that the loss of semen pervades it, then it is a big mistake.
