There are three types: with elaboration, without elaboration, and extremely without elaboration. This is a distinction based on essence. In the Vinaya Sutra, it says: practicing in one's own home, practicing in cemeteries, and wandering in fields, these three. In the Glorious Secret Accomplishment, it also says: As it is said, if the samaya practice is indulged in there, then it will also be accomplished at home. If the samaya practice becomes inferior, then the practice is neither in the field nor at home. The practice in the field and the practice at home mentioned here are distinguished from the perspective of location. In the Blissful Union and other texts, the terms for the practice of the Avadhuti, the practice of Samantabhadra, and the practice of Sarvavid Vairocana are distinctions based on the manner of practice. In the sixth chapter of the Secret Accomplishment, secret practice is discussed; in the seventh, wisdom practice; in the eighth, gathering practice; and in the first part of the ninth, crazy practice. The first two are distinguished from the practice of the Avadhuti, and the latter is extremely without elaboration. This is also a distinction based on the manner of practice. Interest in detachment is the practice of the Shravakas, interest in greatness is the practice of the Paramitas, and interest in profundity is the practice of great desire. These, as mentioned in the Lamp Summarizing Practices, show the practices of the three vehicles, but are not the distinctions of practice in this context. What must be clarified here is that the practice of the Protector All-Going and the practice of Sarvavid Vairocana have the same meaning. The practice of the Youthful King, the practice of the Glorious Regent, and the practice of the Samantabhadri vow have the same meaning. The so-called mantra practice generally refers to all practices above the common practice, but specifically refers to this as well. The so-called wisdom vow practice has two situations: one refers to all practices, and the other refers only to the practice that is manifested to worldly people. Secret practice also has two situations: one refers to all mantra practices, and the other refers only to practicing secretly. Secondly, there are common practice and wisdom vow practice. First, there are the practice of the beginner and the practice of relying on learning. The first is entering as desired.

It is also called "Mongpa," because it is not truly grasped by non-discriminating wisdom. Since both the generating mind and the actual desire mind are not common with worldly people, it is a common desire practice. The essence is to rely on various enjoyments such as food and drink that are in accordance, as well as making tsatsas, prostrations, offerings, and other virtuous activities during the session, and to have them be embraced by the yoga of the deity. The second is to practice after having slightly cultivated yoga, which is divided into two: distinctions and methods of meditation. The first is the three with elaboration, which is to meditate by perceiving all appearances as gods and goddesses. In all instances of accomplishing the generation stage, one relies on the desired qualities that are in accordance, which is with elaboration. This is called learning the appearance of the deity and knowing it as the deity, so it is one stage of what should be learned and one stage of what should be known. Although the main focus is not on conceptual thought, the enjoyment of desired qualities with the object of sense appearing as the body of the deity is without elaboration. This is during the completion stage before the arising of the realization of appearance. One merely learns and knows the body of the deity and the appearance of the mind, so it is two stages of what should be learned and what should be known. The self-appearance of bliss and emptiness appearing as the body of the deity, relying on the desired qualities of the object of sense, and entering into the way in which the deity and bliss are without inherent nature, is extremely without elaboration, which is the three of deity, mind, and illusion, so it is three stages of what should be learned and what should be known. This is from the arising of the realization of appearance until one has not yet attained the path of seeing, and there are various possibilities. All three of these have two types of practice: alternating practice and simultaneous practice, which is whether these three that should be learned and the enjoyment of desired qualities occur simultaneously or not. That is to say, at the time of the deity's clarity, one does not experience the bliss of enjoying desired qualities as it is. At the time of experiencing that, the deity is not clear, so alternating and practicing these two in each moment is alternating practice. When one is accustomed to that, simultaneous entry is simultaneous practice, which is relying on and learning the one with elaboration. The same applies to the other two, enjoying desired qualities and learning in that way, so it is called enjoying and learning. Second, if explained according to the condensed practice, during the session, all three of the superior, inferior, and middling forms of the form aggregate of the world realm are gathered into one, from the lotus of the soft mirror of the form vajra
