At the four-petaled navel chakra, place अ (Tibetan, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A), इ (Tibetan, Devanagari: इ, Romanized Sanskrit: i, Literal Chinese meaning: I), उ (Tibetan, Devanagari: उ, Romanized Sanskrit: u, Literal Chinese meaning: U), ए (Tibetan, Devanagari: ए, Romanized Sanskrit: e, Literal Chinese meaning: Ai) at the four cardinal directions, and place य (Tibetan, Devanagari: य, Romanized Sanskrit: ya, Literal Chinese meaning: Ya), र (Tibetan, Devanagari: र, Romanized Sanskrit: ra, Literal Chinese meaning: Ra), ल (Tibetan, Devanagari: ल, Romanized Sanskrit: la, Literal Chinese meaning: La), व (Tibetan, Devanagari: व, Romanized Sanskrit: va, Literal Chinese meaning: Wa) at the four corners. In the center, place हूँ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum). All of these are blue in color, facing inwards. At the four inner petals of the throat chakra, place आ (Tibetan, Devanagari: आ, Romanized Sanskrit: ā, Literal Chinese meaning: A), ई (Tibetan, Devanagari: ई, Romanized Sanskrit: ī, Literal Chinese meaning: I), ऊ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ऊ, Romanized Sanskrit: ū, Literal Chinese meaning: Wu), ऐ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ऐ, Romanized Sanskrit: ai, Literal Chinese meaning: Ai). At the twelve outer petals, place the twelve vowels excluding the four neuter sounds. In the center, place ॐ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om). All of these are red in color, facing upwards. At the thirty-two petals of the crown chakra, place the sixteen vowel letters twice. In the center, place हं (Tibetan, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hang). All of these are white in color, facing inwards. At the anus, visualize a blue, crescent-shaped wind wheel. At the lower end of the central channel, visualize a red-black colored क्ष (Tibetan, Devanagari: क्ष, Romanized Sanskrit: kṣa, Literal Chinese meaning: Qia) letter. On the two side channels, place vowels and consonants separately, or stack two red consonants and white vowels alternately. Place the single channel upwards from the lower end, and the double channels downwards from the upper end. According to the "Spring Thread," the हूँ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) of the heart should also be visualized within the central channel directly opposite the heart, like a flower of an aquatic plant in the center. This describes the detailed placement of letters. If using the intermediate method, visualize only dots in place of the letters on the side channels and chakra petals. If using the abbreviated method, abandon both the letters and dots, and clearly visualize only the four letters at the centers of the four chakras and the क्ष (Tibetan, Devanagari: क्ष, Romanized Sanskrit: kṣa, Literal Chinese meaning: Qia) letter at the lower end of the central channel. After clearly visualizing these once, when the breath enters, visualize from हं (Tibetan, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hang) to क्ष (Tibetan, Devanagari: क्ष, Romanized Sanskrit: kṣa, Literal Chinese meaning: Qia), when the breath remains, visualize the अं (Tibetan, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ang) of the navel, and when the breath exits, visualize from क्ष (Tibetan, Devanagari: क्ष, Romanized Sanskrit: kṣa, Literal Chinese meaning: Qia) to हं (Tibetan, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hang). Repeatedly practice this sequence, which is the order of the tantras, the root of the oral instruction visualization, the four-limbed yoga, which is the first visualization. Then, clearly visualize each visualization, and practice vase breathing, causing the air in the anus to vibrate, stimulating the क्ष (Tibetan, Devanagari: क्ष, Romanized Sanskrit: kṣa, Literal Chinese meaning: Qia) letter, from which a flame rises up the central channel, striking the अं (Tibetan, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ang) letter of the navel. The अं (Tibetan, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ang) letter ignites a flame, and the navel chakra is covered by the light of the flame, becoming as red as heated iron, feeling extremely hot and unbearable. Then, flames like lightning rise from the side channels, burning the heart chakra as before, and again rise from the side channels, burning the throat chakra, and again rise from the side channels, burning the crown chakra. From the melting of the हं (Tibetan, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hang) letter, intense bodhicitta flows down, filling the crown chakra, and the traces of the flame that burned before
