Or, it is established in the four truths. Also, because from the purification of the four chakras, the meaning of the four truths can be directly realized, it is also established there. The four distinctions are: small, medium, large, and great of great. That is to say, in the navel chakra, there is one part of bindu and nada, which is small; in the heart chakra, there are two parts, which is medium; in the throat chakra, there are three parts, which is large; in the crown chakra, there are four parts, which is great of great. When these are not used as the path and are in the state of the basis of samsara, four kinds of clinging, small, medium, large, and extreme, will arise. For example, clinging to one thing, such as "This person is Devadatta," is small clinging; thinking "The color is beautiful, but the shape is ugly," or hesitating, etc., clinging to two things, is medium clinging; thinking "This person was suffering before, but now he will finally be happy," clinging to three contradictory natures, is large clinging; "I have a good figure, a pleasant voice, am brave, and intelligent," etc., adding many distinctions to one object, is great of great clinging, which is extreme clinging. When it becomes the path, various appearances are realized as being equal in nature, contradictions appear as being without fault, the three times are realized simultaneously, and the merits of knowing many different things simultaneously arise. The four moments are: various aspects, maturation, purification, and absence of characteristics. The four joys are: joy, supreme joy, special joy, and innate joy. These two sets of four dharmas need to be understood in this way: the four joys that exist generally and by nature, the four joys of the moment, and the four joys of the path. The first is as stated in the general introduction above, the four vajras or the four natures themselves, all of which are naturally great bliss that is originally present. The four, body, speech, mind, and innate, are sequentially associated with the four, joy, etc. These are also combined with the four, forehead, throat, heart, and navel. At the time of the four, with the energy of the way of existence being four, the four chakras are formed on the body of samsara. At the time of the path, striking the key of the four wheels, the four joys of the path arise.

Through the purification of the four wheels, the fruition of the four bodies will manifest. Secondly, even sentient beings in samsara who have not practiced the path, when connected with the union of attachment and conceptualization, will experience the four moments and the arising of the four joys. Because this lacks the characteristic of stability called "upper stability" and "lower stability," it is merely a descent. In the time of empowerment and the path, if it is practiced as the path of skillful means, it has both the aspects of upper descent and lower stability. For upper stability, the four joys, etc., arise in the order of crown, throat, heart, and navel. For lower stability, they arise in the order of navel, heart, throat, and crown. However, they arise and cease in each moment, and do not constantly abide in that bliss. Thirdly, there are also the two joys of upper descent and lower stability, and the way they are combined with the four wheels is as previously explained. But in general, this does not arise completely in one stage of effort. And whichever joy-place arises and becomes familiar in whose continuum, it will not decline, and will constantly abide in that continuum. In particular, if one has previously practiced the path of sutra, up to and including the stage of forbearance in the path of application, and then enters this path of mantra, then it is certain that the four joy-places of upper descent will be manifested based on one union. Even up to the stage of abiding in great forbearance, it is possible to manifest the eight joy-places in one session. Furthermore, whether one is a practitioner of the mantra path from the beginning, or enters the mantra path from the sutra path, as soon as one obtains the joy-place, if one does not take measures to stabilize it due to laziness or distraction, then realization may also decline. Thus, the four wheels, as well as the moments and the way of combining joys, are roughly established. But does this text teach both the two joys of upper descent and lower stability, or does it only teach one of them? The previous lamas considered that only lower stability was taught. However, it would be better if both were taught. Among them, the subtle manifestation of various different experiences of bliss is the various moments; although the effort is small, the experience of bliss is of the same kind, and the change is much greater than before, that is the moment of maturation; similar to that aspect.
