Scholars such as Jowo Dechen Dorje and Chokro Chögyal, and some previous eminent beings, have greatly praised it, dividing the thirty-seven practices of the path into two types, common and uncommon, and explaining the thirty-seven results as a combination of skillful means and wisdom. This seems to be the lifeblood of this Dharma, which I have skillfully obtained through my merit. At this time, other purities not explicitly mentioned in the scriptures should also be described as appropriate. The Bhagavan, glorious Heruka, whose body is blue, is immutable in nature. Because the light of wisdom dispels the darkness of ignorance, he has a sun disc as his seat. The gate of liberation, emptiness, is the front face; signlessness is the right face; wishlessness is the left face; and the gate of liberation, non-action, is the back face. The wisdom of the mind vajra, emptiness, is to stop impure appearances, so the color of the central face is blue. The body vajra, the wisdom body, is without the defilement of dust and Dharma, so the right face is white. Following compassion, teaching the Dharma through the gate of love, the speech vajra, the left face is red. The wisdom vajra, the blazing light of great bliss, so the back face is golden. Also, the front black face is for wrathful activity, the right white face is for peaceful activity, the left red face is for subjugating activity, and the back yellow face is for enriching activity. The right foot is great bliss, compassion, the accumulation of merit, and the nature of skillful means. The left is the emptiness of all kinds, free from elaboration and without object, the accumulation of wisdom, and the nature of wisdom. In order for the wisdom that is unobstructed in the three times to enter, each face has three eyes, that is, body, speech, mind, and wisdom all know all knowable things. The twelve winds cease, the movement of the white and red elements, twelve and twelve unchanging, the twelve links of dependent origination dissolve, becoming the master of the twelve grounds, hence the twelve hands. Each of these is also distinguished by the wisdom of the purification of the five aggregates, that is, the fingers pointing inward and outward.

The winds of the twelve junctures of time and the sixty hours are perfectly pure. The five-pronged vajra, the essence of the oneness of the five wisdoms, and the vajra bell, the essence of the Perfection of Wisdom, are held in an embracing mudra to unite body and wisdom. To destroy all ignorance, an elephant hide is worn. The sound of spontaneous joy transformed into great compassion urges one not to dwell in mere emptiness, which is the bell-drum. To cut off all faults of body, speech, and mind, a chopper is held. Abandoning the suffering of the three realms and for the sake of the three bodies, a three-pronged spear is held. To destroy all ordinary thoughts and to strive for the benefit of beings, a curved knife is held. The essential central channel is filled with the bindu of reality and ascends upwards, therefore a khatvanga is held. All faults of clinging to things are bound by wisdom, so that there is no activity of thought, therefore a noose is held. To bestow the nectar of great bliss upon sentient beings, a skull cup is held. The nature of the four immeasurables, or rather, the four rivers of desire, existence, ignorance, and views are destroyed, therefore a four-faced head of Brahma is held. Thus, it is also said in the Vinaya Sutra: "The three prongs are for the purity of the three bodies, the elephant hide destroys ignorance. The faults arising from body, speech, and mind are cut off by the chopper. The sharp curved knife is for the benefit of sentient beings, and is brandished because it possesses diligence. The sound of the ever-joyful nature should be examined as the bell-drum. With the nature of the five wisdoms, the vajra is burned by the fire of emptiness. The khatvanga, which is the nature of bodhicitta, abides as a limb. The skull cup is the form of the skull cup that protects beings, therefore it is called a skull cup. That which is filled with the taste of compassion, by drinking it, Heruka himself triumphs. The noose binds faults, making all embodied beings subject to others. The head is the nature of Brahma." Thus it is said. The right leg extended means not dwelling on the extreme of peace, and the left leg bent means not dwelling on the extreme of existence. With the two legs as the nature of skillful means and wisdom, Vajrabhairava subdues the extreme of nihilism and the nature of grasping, and Time and Sign subdues the extreme of eternalism and the nature of what is grasped. Alternatively, it is manifest.
