Above the variegated lotus sun disc, from the syllable Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हूं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) arises the action vajra, abiding in the center. Meditate on the very nature of Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हूं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). From the blazing of various rays of light, emanate the mandala of ḍākinīs. One face, two arms, three eyes, body color red, extremely fierce, with the form of a spear, a terrifying form, red eyes, yellow hair standing on end, possessing perfect youth, wearing a tiger skin as clothing, with a lolling tongue, greatly frightening, causing even the frightening ones to be frightened. As it is said in the Vajra Ḍākinī Tantra, it is quoted here in the context of the protection wheel. The phrase "the form of a spear" is also related to the protection wheel, so it seems that the lower part should be thought of as the shape of a kīla. However, the actual teaching of the tantra is that it is a mandala for accomplishing the activities of the armor-clad heroines, and the shape of the spear is also explained by the commentary as Vajravarāhī standing in a dancing posture, so it is not absolutely certain. Thus, those eight ḍākinīs are emanated by reciting the four-faced mantra twice. Third, again, by reciting the mantra of the subjugator Sumba once, the eight gate goddesses are commanded and urged. Those themselves and their emanated hosts, those who are to be subdued peacefully are subdued peacefully, and those who need to be subdued violently are killed, expelled, bound, separated, suppressed, and cut off by means of fire and weapons, etc. All the leaders or kings of the obstacles of the ten directions, gathered one by one in each direction, abiding in the form of the ten directional protectors, are bound by the noose of the ten wrathful mothers, pierced through the heart with an iron hook, and involuntarily dragged and summoned. Afterwards, the vajra fence of the protection wheel, when meditating, also on that side with the outer boundary of the cause, place it in the pit made of eight Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हूं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) syllables, that is, in the triangular holes. Place the obstacles above in the east of the east, and the obstacles below in the west of the west in the holes. Fourth, from Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हूं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) emanate a kīla marked with a vajra, hand it over to the ten messengers, and strike the obstacles on the crown of their heads with the kīla. Recite Oṃ Ghagha etc. three times. Here, the kīla marked with a vajra is, the tip is a vajra, and the middle is...

The lower part of what I hold is in the shape of a spear. Some people dislike the fact that the phurba with a winged tip is unique to the Nyingma school, and instead prefer it to be in the shape of a single vajra or a spear. This is merely an expression of hatred towards the Nyingma school and does not understand its meaning. Making the tip of the phurba like an arrow feather is due to later modifications in China and other places, which have led to errors in the design. This is not the Nyingma's own tradition, and it is not found among the early practitioners. Making the tip triangular is exactly what is meant by the shape of a spear and the shape of a single vajra. The so-called "weapon kanaya" (མཚོན་ཀ་ཎཱ་ཡ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: astra kāṇāya, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: astra kanaya, meaning weapon), which in Tibetan is called a single vajra, or a spearhead that is shorter compared to a long spear, is similar in shape to a half-spear. In general, Nyingma phurbas also have round, square, and crescent shapes. Here, too, because it is a fierce action, it must be made triangular, which you also approve of. However, the mouth of the water monster, the intertwined Chinese knots above and below, and decorations are necessary for the Vajrakilaya phurba because they are characteristics of its own tradition. For these traditions, even if they exist, they do not become faults, but they are not necessary. The phurba named after Vajra, although it is also the nature of the deity, if the deity phurba is made from the perspective of calling the form with face and hands a deity, then the deity's body is above the navel, and the tip of the phurba is below the navel. The deity can be the Eight Mother Goddesses of the Gate, or the Ten Wrathful Deities, or the Four Wrathful Mothers, etc., and it is the same no matter which one is visualized, and the purpose can be accomplished. If the threshold is made as (the deity), then it is good to hold a curved knife, skull, and khatvanga. Because of relying on the phrase "a phurba similar to oneself," it is not good to hold a hammer phurba, or to hold an iron hook or rope, etc., because it is unreasonable to abandon the root hand gesture without the function of those hand gestures. Insert the phurba into the crown of the head and rotate it, piercing most of the bodies of the obstructing demons, and strike with the hammer, causing it to penetrate for a long time, visualizing it merging with the vajra ground below the genitals. Also, visualize the hands of the demons being bound, and the two feet also being crossed and bound, pressed under the anus, and the phurba inserted into the crown of the head at the anus.
