From the right nostril arises the wind of nine hundred and one thousand, which is the mandala of the fire element. Its color is red and clear, and the deity associated with it is the Lotus Lord, Amitabha. From the left nostril arises the wind of nine hundred and one thousand, and its realm is called the mandala of wind. Its color appears as green or black. The deity associated with it is the Lord of Action, Amoghasiddhi. Here, the term 'greenish-yellow' is a mistake. It is said. So, are both green and black acceptable? Black seems more reasonable in meaning. From both nostrils, the wind of nine hundred and one thousand arises forcefully and harshly, and its realm is the great powerful earth mandala, appearing as golden in color. This yellow is the activity of the deity Ratnasambhava, the Jewel Lord. Similarly, from both nostrils, the wind flows slowly and gently, without movement, that is, slowly and weakly, nine hundred and one thousand winds flow, and its realm is the water mandala. Its color is pure as if unblemished by dirt, and it appears white like pure crystal, which is the activity of the deity Vajrasattva, the Immovable One. The wind that resides in all the joints of the body, which is the performer of all the functions of the four winds previously mentioned, is the element of space, whose color is very clear and not obvious. The deity of this is the Buddha Lord, Vairochana. While alive, this wind does not mainly flow in the form of a mandala, but before death, nine hundred and one thousand winds will arise from the nostrils of the body. Even when alive, it is not that this wind does not flow at all, because it is said to participate in the activities of all four mandalas, so it flows universally. At this time, if the five mandalas are combined with the five root winds, like this, the life wind and the essence of each element are combined into one to function. Therefore, the upward-moving wind and so on are also the realm of that element. The Lotus Lord is related to the upward-moving wind, etc., and in the three mandalas, the activity of these three winds is predominant. The Vajra Lord is only the activity of the life-sustaining wind. If it is said like that, there is no contradiction. The suchness of wind, that is, its essence and power.

The clear manifestation of arising and moving is the essence of the five elements, the nature of the five wisdoms. Fire-wind is discriminating awareness. Wind of wind is accomplishing activity. Earth-wind is equality. Water-wind is like a mirror. Space element is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. The essence of the five winds abiding as the nature of the five wisdoms, and so forth, this very suchness, even if it is a yogi, that is, one who abides in equipoise, it is not the domain of ordinary childish beings. And as for those who speculate based only on examples and reasons, what need is there to mention, they do not know. Secondly, to explain in detail the suchness of mantra and recitation, there are two parts: general meaning and literal meaning. The first part includes explaining the suchness of mantra and explaining the suchness of recitation. First, in general, what is called the suchness of mantra is that it is both mantra and suchness, therefore the basis of mantra and suchness is the same. The mantra of the ultimate body, speech, and mind is the nature and state of all other mantras. It is the basis for transforming ordinary speech into purity, and the yoga that makes it the path is the purifier of speech. The basis and root of speech are the three states of wind: going, coming, and abiding. The reason for applying the names of the three seed-syllable mantras of body, speech, and mind vajra to these three winds in conventional truth, and the way in which the nature or dharma of that wind abides as the self-mantra of the three vajras of ultimate truth, is what needs to be determined here. Therefore, in order to know the basis for performing vajra recitation, or the object on which to act, it is necessary to determine the suchness of wind. And in order to fully understand and determine the nature of the mantra to be recited and the necessity of recitation, it is necessary to know the suchness of mantra. Among these are four: the extraction of mantra, the symbols of mantra, the meaning of mantra, and the ultimate meaning of mantra. First, in general, the basis from which mantras are extracted is the vowels (ཨཱ་ལི་,梵文:ālikāli) and consonants (ཀཱ་ལི་,梵文:kāli). The mantras extracted from these include secret mantras, family mantras, and dharani mantras. Here, from the three letters ཨ་ཨུ་ཨཾ་, ཨོཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 嗡) is extracted; from ཨ་ཨ་ཨཿ, ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Chinese literal meaning: 阿) is extracted; and from the three letters ཧ་ཨཱུ་ཨཾ་, ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) is extracted. Here, the two ཨཾs and the ཨ་ with a tsek are the basis for emitting the nasal sound and the separation sound.
