It is manifested through yoga. The great emptiness and the outer emptiness are meditated upon with the application of mindfulness; the inner and outer emptiness are meditated upon with mindfulness and the actual practice. At these times, all sentient beings should be recognized as the Vajra of Body, Speech, and Mind, or the purity of the three Bodhisattvas, thereby entering into luminosity, which is the emptiness beyond limits. The cause of samsara is wind and conceptual thought. By meditating on the yoga of holding mindfulness, the wisdom of the absorption of the eighty winds and conceptual thoughts is the emptiness without beginning or end. The three appearances are always of virtuous character, and even when focusing on conditioned phenomena, it is free from attachment, which is the emptiness of conditioned phenomena. Everything is empty, luminous, focusing solely on the Dharmadhatu of unconditioned phenomena, which is the emptiness of the unconditioned. During the actual practice of luminosity, the cessation of the conceptual thoughts of grasping and being grasped is for the purpose of taming the inherent nature of the lineage, therefore it is the emptiness of inherent nature. The three appearances arising from luminosity, together with reversal, accomplish many distinctions of qualities, which is for the purpose of accomplishing the Dharmas of the Buddhas, therefore it is the emptiness of all Dharmas. Entering into the mandala complete with marks and signs, this is the emptiness of characteristics. The Dharma of the cause of Body and qualities, the nature of virtue, great bliss without end, this is the way to meditate on the emptiness of non-abandonment. The four emptinesses enter as the general characteristic of these. All of these have the aspect of being without the elaboration of person and Dharma, this is the emptiness of no-thingness. After that, self-awareness remains constantly unchangeable, experiencing it, this is the emptiness of the nature of no-thingness. The object of the mind's grasping of the view that these elaborations are not established anywhere is also merely a mental construct, and apart from that, it is not established, knowing this is the emptiness of emptiness. Thus, the wisdom that cognizes the emptiness as an object is also without an object, this is the ultimate emptiness. The non-discriminating awareness, separated from concepts, possesses all four of these characteristics, thus it is the sixteen emptinesses. Because all elaborations cease, it is the emptiness of substance.

Because bliss and clarity are constant and unchanging, it is the emptiness of non-reality. Adding the two common characteristics, there are eighteen emptinesses. The characteristics of the sixteen emptinesses should be sought from that very tantra. Therefore, regarding the emptiness of the way things abide in a single object, there are eighteen aspects of characteristics. The way the path enters and realizes through each of the different aspects is how the eighteen arise. This is the unique realization of luminosity in mantra. As stated in the Compendium of Trainings: "One enters the ultimate truth through the sequence of the eighteen emptinesses." The meaning is thus. Furthermore, this should be examined. In the third stage above, it is said that the illusory body is irreversible, In the unsurpassed intention, it is also said to be irreversible at the time of luminosity. Also, in the Lamp for Integrating Practice, it says: "Even those who are in equipoise in an illusion-like samadhi will revert until they have attained the direct realization of ultimate truth. Why is that? As long as the three appearances have not become completely pure, until then it is the complete conceptualization of consciousness. As long as there is conceptualization, until then there is a continuum of habitual tendencies of afflictions. The continuum of habitual tendencies of afflictions will again lead to existence. Whoever is free from other thoughts is a place of complete purity." It is said that even if one attains the stage of the illusory body, if one does not attain the stage of luminosity, one will revert because the three appearances of self-nature are not pure. Therefore, there is a continuum of seeds of afflictions of the three realms. Because there is this continuum, one will be reborn. Whoever is free from the mind of the three appearances with self-nature, when the state of all afflicted dharmas and the state of directly touching the wisdom of great bliss are realized, the cessation of deluded appearances is the nature of reality, therefore the meaning of attaining irreversibility. Here, some say that once the illusory body is attained, it is impossible to be born from afflictions, and it is also impossible not to realize the ultimate truth in that lifetime. If it is said that one has not realized it, that is clinging to permanence. But that is not the case, since the first time the illusory body is attained, that realization will be lost.
