That is to say, although these situations also occur, they are not necessarily all like this, let alone colored powders. Even if it is visualized in the mind, or in the mandala of samadhi, empowerment is not necessarily required. As the Later Tantra says: "Mandala and empowerment, as well as the supreme conduct, holding and blessing, are another way to achieve." Therefore, Je Tsongkhapa said that Sakya Pandita believed that there were both previous rituals and current rituals for mantra, and this statement has a very clear source. Now some people say this: "Some people say that there are previous rituals and current rituals for mantra, which are not mentioned in the sutras and Indian treatises." Those who say this, even if they speak wildly, saying that they have seen and heard all the Indian sutras and treatises, have not even seen the very famous Guhyasamaja Tantra, which completely exposes their nature as big liars. In this way, since one must abide by the vows after receiving empowerment, it is unreasonable to think that one has obtained the vows and precepts by merely holding the vows of the five families, because empowerment itself can obtain the vows and precepts. Among them, the vows of the five families to be practiced, and the root downfalls and gross sins to be abandoned, are the same as the common vows, so they are called common vows. The special vows mentioned in this tantra are: guarding the four vows, guarding the three vows, guarding the empowerment vows, and guarding the conduct vows. The first is, as stated in the fourth chapter: "Whoever kills living beings, whoever likes to lie, whoever covets the wealth of others, and whoever always commits adultery." It means that abiding in the generation stage, if it turns to benefiting others, then these can be done directly. Abiding in the completion stage, stopping the breath is killing, the order of dependent origination, speaking Dharma with wisdom is lying, obtaining what is not given from the power of the wisdom mudra of the Buddha is not taking what is not given, and practicing in the suchness of Dharma nature is committing adultery. Even the initial practitioners must hold these in a way of faith and understanding, and must learn the collection of causes. These are the four vows. The second is, based on these four vows, declaring big meat as body, feces and urine as speech, and semen and blood as mind vows, is the completion stage.

This is the teaching on how to integrate the five aggregates into luminosity. Third is the vow of conduct: In secret conduct, yogis should not perform mandala rituals, etc.; when they benefit beings by assuming the respective forms of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Brahma, Ishvara, Vishnu, etc., it is essential to abide by the corresponding vows. Even when it is not necessary, to accomplish these deities, it is necessary to observe the vows of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, etc. Detailed content is mainly explained in the seventeenth chapter. Second, dividing the path from the perspective of practice, there are two stages: the common path and the uncommon path. The first is to learn the intention of the Buddha's vehicle. Just as in other chapters of the Compendium of Practices Lamp, the Manifest Enlightenment of Vairochana is repeatedly quoted, it should be applied here as well: Engaging in minor austerities such as fasting with a subtle mind of virtue is like a seed; giving charity only to relatives is like a sprout; giving charity also to non-relatives is like a trunk; completely seeking the vessel of charity is like leaves; giving charity to the guru and even musicians is like flowers; giving to others with a joyful mind is like fruit; guarding morality for the sake of heaven is like nourishment. Furthermore, respectfully offering to the great gods, and grasping onto oneself by understanding the guru's teachings, thereby desiring only oneself to attain liberation. These eight mindsets are subtle, gathered by austerity, charity, morality, and undefiled roots of virtue, and are merely the wisdom of a small person. After that, six kinds of release of breath will arise: When abandoning non-virtuous actions and only performing virtuous actions, it is releasing breath with virtue; when relying on the suchness of self and focusing the mind one-pointedly, it is called releasing breath by relying on self; when observing the five aggregates and gaining a clear appearance of selflessness, it is releasing breath with selflessness; when focusing only on the Dharma and not focusing on the gross five aggregates, etc., it is releasing breath with the Dharma; after abandoning all dharmas, it is unborn.
