In short, it is established by the scriptural authorities of the sutras and tantras that one must realize the nature of mind at the beginning of mental solitude, and because the three appearances are named ultimate bodhicitta, these three appearances must be the realization of the ultimate reality. If realized, since it is not pervaded by direct realization, there is no fault of becoming the noble path, so it is said. Knowing the mind of mental solitude as it is, in the stage of establishing the order of certainty, in the Compendium of Trainings, it says that for the appearance of self-nature purity, it is like knowing the various distinctions of the mount of wind. Those established by scriptural authority also appear as scriptural authority that the pure consciousness cannot be transformed by the manifestation of afflictions. Moreover, one's own mind as it is is the realization of conventional truth, so it is said. In the stage of the nature of appearance and the category, the conventional form of mind is clear. What arises from the mind is the conventional form. This appears, and in general, it is repeatedly indicated by the name of consciousness as "three consciousnesses." Moreover, from this very treatise, because it appears "by the clear form of the conventional," therefore, the realization of the conventional reality is inevitable, so there is no need to refute that reasoning. There is no contradiction in the fact that the direct realization of the conventional and the realization of the ultimate in the manner of mere experiential awareness are complete in one wisdom. Because it is similar to the ultimate bodhicitta, it is named ultimate bodhicitta, and it must become both clear in the conventional and experienced as the nature of bliss. It is not that the clear appearance of the conventional nature is seen directly by non-conceptual wisdom, and if it contradicts this, because the ultimate part is not clear, it is good to focus on the way of seeing the conventional. Moreover, the so-called clear form of the conventional is not to say that for sentient beings of inferior intention, the conventional clearly appears as the moon, etc., but rather that this clear mind of the conventional is indicated to sentient beings of inferior intention by the symbols of the moon, etc. Otherwise, women and leftists and nights, etc., would also have to be said to be clear wisdom without any connection. Furthermore, those three appearances merely make clear the nature of the consciousness of the conventional reality, and from the beginning, it is not an object.

Is it because it was done that it was not seen? Even if it was done, it was not seen because the appearance was inverted. In either case, it contradicts seeing the ultimate truth, because the inverted mind is the opposite of seeing the ultimate truth, and also because if the conventional is not made the object, its own nature cannot be known. Third, explaining the means of accomplishing the three appearances of the path: The mind has three aspects, now I will speak of its accomplishment. The winds, with their subtle forms, mix inseparably with consciousness and truth, arising from the path of the senses, and observing the objects. When there is appearance, and it becomes the vehicle of the wind, then all those natures, without exception, completely enter. Wherever the wind dwells, that nature arises and changes accordingly. As long as the wind does not move, the appearance becomes unmoving. The two appearances become the cause, and I examine things separately. Just as appearance is obtained, both become limbs. Among all illusions, the illusion of a woman is especially excellent. The distinction of the three wisdoms will be clearly shown from this. Desire itself, non-desire, and the space between them, these three are, the union of two faculties, born from the union of vajra and lotus. The union of two wisdoms is said to be equal union. Through the union of two wisdoms, and the actions as described, whatever wisdom is obtained through effort, that is the attainment of appearance. If the lotus and vajra unite, even if it does not exist in the conventional, even experiencing it just once, it will be accomplished by the power of yoga. With the nature of entering wisdom, having understood the distinctions as they are, the yogi should again constantly manifest that nature. Thus, having explained the nature of the three appearances or the three minds, now I will speak of the means of accomplishing or obtaining the non-conceptual pervasive appearance. That is, at the base time, the winds with their subtle forms, that is, the winds of subtle nature, because the winds themselves are subtle, mix inseparably with consciousness and truth, arising from the gates of the five senses, and observing the five objects, that is, observing the aspects of form and so on.
