arise. Its meaning is: the eighty winds associated with the right Roma channel are the daytime, that is, all eighty thoughts of the waking time are generated; the eighty winds associated with the left Jiangma channel are the signal of the night, the eighty thoughts of the sleeping time of drowsiness and dream summation are all generated. To illustrate with one example, the wind that generates the thoughts of attachment and aversion is a different kind of wind, but if that kind of wind is contaminated by the smell of the Roma channel, then anger will arise in the waking state; if another kind of the same kind is controlled by the power of the Jiangma channel, then anger will arise in the dream. The two channels and day and night are skillful means and wisdom, so it is reasonable to distinguish them by the difference of skillful means and wisdom, but the cognition of skillful means and wisdom, the universally known conventional and ultimate, is not good to use here. In the time of the nature of appearance, the main thing is hatred; in the time of the nature of growth, greed, pride, and the three views are the main things; in the time of the nature of acquisition, ignorance and doubt are the main things, and the others are like retinues. Therefore, it is the same as explaining that the root of existence is the subtle and vast six (afflictions). These are the authors of throwing and accomplishing, and are the root of samsara, but their nature is emptiness, bliss, and luminosity. If they are dissolved into luminosity in this way of realization, then the method of liberation is also unsurpassed. Therefore, the root of samsara's entering and returning is the three appearances. Among the thirty-three thoughts of appearance, the main thing is detachment, that is, anger, and there are many thoughts that correspond to it, so it is called by the main name, called the thirty-three kinds arising from hatred; among the forty kinds of growing thoughts, greed is the main thing, and many follow it, so it is called the forty kinds of greedy thoughts; among the seven kinds of acquired thoughts, ignorance is the main thing, and many correspond to it, so similarly, it is called the seven kinds of ignorant thoughts, and the mantra practitioners are famous for saying the main thing, which is not unreasonable. In general, wherever one of the three poisons is, there is everything, so in each category, all three are mixed together, but the establishment of the main and secondary is different, and wherever one of the three appearances is, there is everything.

I and others. The reason for dividing it into three is to ascertain the secrets of body, speech, and mind. Otherwise, from the purification of the four vajras, four appearances arise; from the purification of the five wisdoms, five appearances arise; from the purification of the six realms, six appearances arise, and so on, from a hundred kinds to the infinite. However, for the sake of not having to condense all distinctions into one system, they are not clearly distinguished for the time being. These conceptual thoughts, whether of the same kind or different kinds, continue to flow without certainty. However, each one arises, abides, and ceases in such a short time, such as a moment, a snap of the fingers, a short while, a blink of an eye, or a clap of the hands. This is not an analysis using the wisdom that seeks meaning, because if analyzed in that way, even a moment's duration cannot be found. Therefore, just as it is said, "The length of the day is thirty hours, and the burning of a candle can last the whole night," here we are explaining the duration of each conceptual thought. If different kinds of thoughts do not continue, then there is only one moment. Even if similar kinds of thoughts continue, each thought does not exceed that time. Because many thoughts gather together, they are mistaken for one thought, and therefore it is perceived as a long time. Furthermore, if ten different conceptual thoughts arise in ten moments, because they are very subtle, ordinary people cannot distinguish the boundaries, and they are all mixed together, so they do not even notice the arising of conceptual thoughts. However, yogis who have trained on the path know it as it is, and they also realize that each thought has the movement of the three aspects. In this context, a moment is said to be the duration of a cymbal strike. A snap of the fingers is the time it takes for a mustard seed to turn, that is, for the surface to change. A short while is the time of one breath. A blink of an eye is the time it takes for the eyelids to close when blinking. A clap of the hands is the duration of the sound produced by striking two hands together. These are the definitions of the length of time of moments and so on. In the Explanatory Tantra, Vajra Garland, it says: In the six times of exhaling and inhaling, it is commonly known as root and flesh. Six moments are one breath. That is the measure of a cymbal strike. Three finger snaps are one moment. That is the time it takes for a mustard seed to turn. Three breaths are one finger snap. That finger snap is a short while. Three finger snaps are a blink of an eye. That is also
