are accomplished by the three. Regarding the reality of things, it is determined by the wisdom mentioned above as not existing in (things). Although it is not established in reality, it appears; although it appears, it is empty of truth, and that is called like an illusion. This meaning, among sentient beings, there is nothing else besides that. Etc., in the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras, Maitreya, the successor of the Buddhas (Maitreya Bodhisattva), extensively explained, and these also need to be understood. If it agrees with the mind, it should be accepted at this time. Introducing it from the perspective of meditative experience, the example is the empty form that arises during equipoise, which appears as forms of earth, water, fire, and wind, but is not those, like an illusion. In terms of meaning, from the first of the three points, that is, from the aspect of emptiness of inherent existence, showing it as like an illusion is: the clearly and vividly experienced empty form, the Great Seal, does not arise from anywhere, does not abide anywhere, and does not cease anywhere, but like this, the appearance of arising and ceasing in the mind. Like this, these appearances of existence, body, enjoyment, enemies, and friends, etc., and these various appearances of thoughts, etc., also appear while being empty of the three—arising, abiding, and ceasing. At the very moment of clear appearance, it is originally empty of the three—arising, abiding, and ceasing. In this way, although it appears, it is the nature of emptiness; although it is emptiness, the appearance does not cease, and this is the state of possessing all aspects. Combine it with "Possessing all aspects, without aspects," etc. In particular, the empty form is "Possessing all aspects, without aspects." And "Formless, excellent form, is the supreme form. Various forms are born from the mind. All forms are the manifestors. The glory of holding all images." These are combined with the four—sound, smell, taste, and touch. Because it constantly appears and is free from all elaborations, it is like an illusion. And it dwells in the essence of all phenomena, so all phenomena also abide in appearance and emptiness, like an illusion. However, the nature of phenomena has abided unchanging from the beginning, and the adventitious stains of conventional truth are originally without inherent existence. Therefore, this truly authentic empty form is not manifested by meditating on all phenomena as like illusions with conceptual thoughts, nor is it attained through ordinary non-conceptual emptiness, but it is accomplished through the special method of binding the wind-mind to the central channel. The second point is looking at the empty form from the perspective of seeing without investigation.

Furthermore, all present appearances are like illusions. The third point is that appearances are without inherent existence, as stated in the scripture: "Things and non-things also exist, but they are momentary and separate, and there is existence without inherent nature." Just as emptiness appears, but there is no grasper or grasped, all phenomena included in samsara and nirvana are recognized as being free from grasper and grasped. To make a decision with the three kinds of trust, the lama introduces all phenomena as appearance and emptiness, like illusions, through the three aspects of scripture, reason, and oral instruction. As stated in the root tantra: "There is no change in arising and ceasing, and there is no birth by nature. Things and non-things are one in nature. These various differences are devoid of characteristics." And in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "Like illusions, apparitions, cities of gandharvas, like mirages, like dreams, meditating on characteristics is empty in essence. Know all dharmas to be like that." Even when one practices oneself, emptiness cannot be sought separately. In the state of equipoise, when appearances cannot be denied in duality, various images arise as mere naked appearances without any grasping. In the post-meditation state, various appearances also arise, but at the moment of appearance, it is emptiness, and from the moment of emptiness, it appears. In any case, it does not go beyond the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, and like a dream, there exists a grasper and grasped realm. Therefore, with the three trusts in the lama, the tantra, and oneself, one determines that all phenomena are like illusions. In this state of post-meditation illusion, most Tibetans, in their awareness, see all phenomena as unreal. Since unreality is the nature of the Dharmakaya, appearances and existence are introduced as Dharmakaya appearances. According to the view of this lineage, when reciting in equipoise, it may be permissible to start only from the aspect of emptiness, as long as it does not contradict it, but this alone cannot achieve the union of equipoise, so it is not ultimate. When distinguishing the two truths in post-meditation, it is not introduced in this way, because conventional truth is without inherent existence. Since conventional truth has never existed, the nature of conventional truth is merely a vulgar state, but since it is not an object that can be known separately by true wisdom, it is not ultimate truth. Therefore, although one does not say that there is ultimate truth and Dharmakaya separate from conventional truth, conventional truth itself
