Therefore, it is very important to understand the branches of all these six limbs, as well as their order. If such mindfulness is classified, there is mindfulness that relies on karma mudra, mindfulness that does not rely on it but relies on jñana mudra, and mindfulness that is solely mahamudra. There are three root classifications. As it says in the root tantra: "The absorption of karma mudra, the focus of jñana mudra, the union of mahamudra, does not change, but increases." In the first, by stabilizing the melting bindu, the arising wisdom of the path increases, and the ten classifications of bliss samadhi corresponding to the ten states of desire are gradually obtained. Therefore, there are ten classifications within this. Similarly, for the second, from the completely pure bliss of the ten states of desire, the original growth arises without relying on mudra, and ten are obtained sequentially. The third, which arises solely through mahamudra, will also sequentially give rise to a single set of ten completely pure bliss samadhis of the ten states of desire. Therefore, in general, mindfulness should be divided into thirty stages of high and low paths. These inferior and other classifications will become the diversity of three main accomplishment methods. As mentioned above, in general, all six limbs have been covered, but in reality, these three states here are also implied, and need to be understood by relying on other scriptures such as the root tantra. Among them, the first two states are that the power of the uncommon characteristic of mindfulness is weak, so it is entering or combining with mindfulness. The third state is that the actual essence of mindfulness is pure, so it should be regarded as the main purpose. Furthermore, the melting bliss bindu that is the basis, such as conventional bodhicitta, the more it becomes clear and transparent, the more it becomes hard, so it is called thick. The more it becomes thick and hard, the easier it is to be melted by desire, and the easier it is to control, reverse, and pervade. Therefore, in this stage of mindfulness, one should...

Furthermore, regarding the support, the initial stage is mostly impure, so it relies on the karma-mudra. In the intermediate stage, it does not rely on it, but relies on the wisdom-mudra. Finally, it does not rely on any of these, but is satisfied with just the empty-form body. These are the three established situations. To fully generate bliss solely through the wisdom-mudra, it is necessary to have the clear appearance of perceiving tangible signs. It is impossible not to obtain this when arising in the lineage of the stages of recollection. Both empty-form and this are equal in that they appear merely as clear appearances, but the empty-form itself is even more clear. If physical tactile union is equally absent for both, then the wisdom-mudra can fully lead to the four joys. What is the situation where the empty-form is not like that? The empty-form is only the appearance free from conceptualization in all stages of union and reality. The wisdom-mudra, although it is a real clear appearance, is also accompanied by attachment and conceptualization at its own time, and its own cause must also be generated by conceptual thought. Therefore, it is a general rule that the melting bliss can be immediately stimulated from being accompanied by attachment and conceptualization. Even if attachment and conceptualization do not manifest, the melting bliss can be immediately generated, which is only the realm of practice for some supreme yogis. Therefore, it should be considered that even for the intermediate faculties at this time, it is necessary to manifest attachment and conceptualization that stimulate bliss. If it is said that the bliss of complete purity in the ten stages of desire is generated by signs such as smoke, is it not contradictory to make such distinctions for the karma-mudra and wisdom-mudra? It is not contradictory, because in this stage, the establishment of reliance on the karma-mudra and wisdom-mudra is necessary as a part or aid of the path, because for them, the essence of the path is accomplished by the empty-form mahamudra. Therefore, they are also the bliss generated by the mahamudra. Then, isn't it more excellent that the mahamudra generates bliss while others become aids? Why is it said that the karma-mudra and wisdom-mudra should be gradually abandoned? Because the path that is most excellent among them has not been attained, and until stability in it has not been attained, these lower paths will become causes of distraction from meditating on the supreme path. Therefore, it is necessary to abandon them in those stages, and this is also the path.
