Regarding the saying "like a mural," Labdrön said, "The murals in the temple, maintaining their postures and smiling faces, are in a state of non-thinking and non-thought." Just like this example, adopting a binding posture and attitude means that there is no attention or effort in the mind. Regarding the yoga of non-thought, the venerable Saraha also said, "Having abandoned thought and object of thought, abiding like a small child, diligently respecting the guru's instructions, there is no doubt that co-emergent wisdom will arise." This refers to an awareness without tension or relaxation, like that of a newborn infant, not thinking of awareness within, nor thinking of the object of thought without. The so-called "one-pointed yoga" refers to abiding single-pointedly in space, even though there is no clinging to conceptual thoughts. In this regard, the Dohakosha says, "The mind should be held like space, the nature of mind itself is holding the nature of space, if the mind is made non-mind, then one will attain unsurpassed enlightenment." This means that by blending awareness with space, the mind becomes like space, without any characteristics of conceptual elaboration. Through habituation, the mind becomes the nature of space, that is, free from elaboration. The so-called "making mind non-mind" refers to the fact that the previously flowing mind, through effort and abiding, forcibly stops conceptual thoughts. For example, the metaphor of "a monkey guarding one door," if a monkey is placed in a house with many windows, the monkey is very active and will peek out of all the windows, looking around, and from the outside it looks like there are many monkeys. If only one door is left and the others are blocked, the monkey will only look out of that door, and people outside will think there is only one monkey. Similarly, if this mind is left unrestrained, it will combine with the five senses, rely on the respective consciousnesses, and generate endless conceptual thoughts, making it seem as if there are many minds, but if its distraction is prevented, the mind will immediately abide in one continuum. The so-called "yoga of non-meditation" refers to not recalling the past, not welcoming the future, not clinging to what is seen, abiding in space, cutting off the movement of thoughts in the three times, and in this way, one can attain non-conceptual samadhi.
